Due to the current climate of the Corona19 virus, we have been advised from the Governor's office, to hold off on the public viewing from 1 to 5PM, for Bishop Nathaniel Wells Jr. The family apologizes for any inconvenience in this matter, and wishes to thank all residents of Muskegon County and surrounding areas for your prayers and condolences.

Our beloved shepherd ❤️

A celebration of an extraordinary life. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Bishop Nathaniel Wyoming Wells Jr., will be remembered during services at Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ. While Bishop Wells’ passing comes at a time when we are required to adhere to social distancing restrictions aimed at stopping the spread of the coronavirus, the Bishop’s family would like to give the community an opportunity to pay their respects to a man who has touched thousands of lives, in ways both profound and blessedly ordinary.

Under government restrictions, we will be allowed to hold the following services:

Monday March 30, 2020
Public Viewing at Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ
2140 Valley St, Muskegon, MI 49444
1pm-5pm ET

The community is invited to pay respects to Bishop Wells, in his full vestments, in a solemn and celebratory procession past the casket. In an effort to adhere to social distancing guidelines, the public is asked to be mindful of the guidance offered by ushers.

Later this year when, God willing, the virus has passed, the family will invite the community to come together for a more fitting Home Going. In those services, Bishop Nathaniel Wyoming Wells Jr. will be honored by his home church. There will also be a state-wide celebration, honoring the Bishop’s contributions as Prelate of the Western Michigan Jurisdiction of the Churches of God in Christ. Additionally, the Bishop will be honored by the national church, for his long and dedicated service as a distinguished member of the General Board, the governing body of the Church of God in Christ.

For now, we celebrate the life of a revered Bishop and beloved husband, father and grandfather in the ways that we can. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

May the blessings and peace of God continue to shine upon your hearts.

With heavy hearts the Presiding Bishop and the General Board announce the loss of General Board Member, Bishop Nathaniel Wyoming Wells. We ask the entire constituency of the Church of God in Christ to uphold his family and all those affected by this great loss in prayer.
