Jump Start with Jesus for February 11

"It was not that this man sinned, or his parents sinned, but that the works of God might be displayed in him." John 9:3 ESV

Before Jesus was born, the common belief was people who were ill or handicapped were being punished for something they- or their parents- had done that was very bad. One day, after explaining to his followers how powerful God is, Jesus restored sight to a blind man.

Today, God is still helping people through hard circumstances to show his love and goodness.

Dear God, thank you for your love and the countless ways you show us just how much. Help me to remember I can always tell you my troubles and trust you to help me find the best outcome. May I be quick to tell others of your goodness. Amen

"Life was in him, and that life was light for all people" John 1:4 NIRV

When we are troubled by thoughts or situations, people say we are in a dark place. The Bible tells us that Jesus is like a light during those times.

God is just waiting for you to ask for his help--at any time. He loves you so much and always will.

Dear Jesus, thank you for helping me see hope in your truth and light when darkness is closing in on me.

"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he's done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything you can understand." Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

God's tells us in the Bible not to worry 365 times! He must really think it's important. Worrying has never solved any problem, but it can cause you to become sick.
God loves you so much and is always ready to hear from you and help you through anything.

Lord Jesus, I am so thankful for your never-ending love. Because of your sacrifice, I can personally talk with you anytime -- about anything. I love you so much!

"When you are angry, do not sin. And do not go on being angry all day. Do not give the devil a way to defeat you." Ephesians 4:26-27. ICB

There was a son that seemed to be angry all the time. His dad decided to help him out. He gave his son a hammer and a box of nails and told his son that every time he felt angry he was to pound a nail into the backyard fence.
After some time, the father noticed his son hadn't been to the fence in a few days. He told his son that he was very proud of him for learning to control his anger. He then took his son out to the fence and helped him pull all the nails out.
When they were done the dad said, "Anger comes and goes. But just like those nails you drove into this wood, the damage it causes can't be undone. With people, the damage is done to their souls."
The son never forgot those words of wisdom.

Father God, help me to let go of my anger without causing any harm. Guide my thoughts into positive actions like reading, taking a walk, or talking to you until I can calm down.

I begged the Lord three times to take this problem away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is enough for you. When you are weak my power is made perfect in you." 2 Corinthians 12: 8-9

If you're human, you've had more bad days than you've wanted. Does God want you to struggle?

NO! God does not want - or cause -you to have bad days. However, when hard times come, he wants us to trust him and call on his power to help us get through them. God can take absolutely awful things and bring something good out of them.

Lord, I trust that you can use my weakness to do something great. I love you and praise you for that.

" No one has ever seen. No one has ever heard. No one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9

Think about the most beautiful thing you have ever seen or heard.
Have you ever daydreamed about what your perfect day would be?

Nothing you've experienced or dreamed about can come close to being better than what God is preparing for you. He's been perfecting your future since before you were even born. Choose wisely and it will be amazing!

Father God, thank you so much for your steadfast love and care. When I stumble in my walk with you, I trust you to help me get back on your path. I love you.

Mary responded, "I am the Lord's servant. May everything you have said about me come true." And then the angel left her. Luke 1:38

Many believe Mary was a young teen when the angel told her of God's plans for her. Although it was common in those days for girls that young to marry and become mothers, it must have been very frightening for her to have an angel bring the news that she was going to have God's child.

God has been thinking about you and making plans for you since before you were born. But, God has also given you the gift of making your own choices. Will you choose to get to know God and his plans for you?

Father God, help me to always remember how much you love me. No matter what happens, let me be with you just as you are always with me.

"The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7: 25 NIV

There can be times in your life when you feel you are in the middle of a terrible storm with troubles and worries hitting you from all directions.
Believers in Jesus are like those who built their house on solid rock. Their faith in God's promises allows them to stand firmly against troubles and worries; they put their trust in God's love and the knowledge that God is their ever-present help in the storms of life.

Lord Jesus, I know that no matter what I face, I can depend on you to face it with me. Thank you so much.

"Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do. And whatever else you do, develop good judgement." Proverbs 4:7 NLT

We make so many decisions every day. Some are little, some big, some easy, and some are hard. Getting wisdom boils down to gaining a lot of information. Judgement is the act of making a decision.
When we rely on the Bible for true wisdom, we can be sure our decisions are correct because they were based on God's word.

Dear God, thank you for the Bible and for sending your son Jesus so I can learn how to make good choices every day. Amen.

"Those who love your teachings will find true peace. Nothing will defeat them." Psalm 119: 165

Sometimes rules can be hard to follow. Why stop at a stop sign when there aren't any cars in sight? Who knows if someone drinks milk right out its container when nobody is looking?

Rules exist not just to keep you safe, but also to keep those around you safe. God made rules for the same reason; BUT both the Old and New Testament state that keeping his commandments is also a sign of love, devotion, and trust given to God by his followers.

Father God, I do love you so much. Help me to stay strong when I think of breaking your rules. I want to live by your goodness in peace always. Amen
