Glory to Jesus Christ!
Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ,
Yesterday evening we gathered around the reading of the Twelve Passion Gospels, it is a deeply meaningful time. This evening we will lay Christ in the Tomb. This is a time which eludes words. A time of sorrow and mourning, but at the same time, we know what's about to happen. As the sea-monster could not hold Jonah, the Tomb cannot contain the God-man.
This evening at 6:30 we will serve Vespers for the Burial of our Lord. Kids remember to bring your undecorated candles. We will proceed before placing Christ into the Tomb.
Tomorrow morning at 10:00am we will serve a "vesperal obednitsa", for lack of a better term, for Holy Saturday morning. As is custom, we will change the colors from purple to white.
Saturday evening at 7:00pm we will serve Resurrection Matins. Kids this is the time to bring your decorated candle for the celebratory procession. This is the rowdiest that we Orthodox get all year, so if you haven't witnessed it, make sure you are there!
Pascha morning at 10:00am we will serve an obednitsa for the Resurrection. Needless to say, we will break the fast with the Feast of Feasts! Bring feast-worthy food! Fr. James and Pani Susan plan to join us, and Father said that he will bless Pascha baskets, so please bring your baskets!
Hope to see everyone this weekend!
In Christ,
Dcn. Maximus
