We have often been asked who we are, and want this post to serve as a help for those who have wondered or visited and don't know.
We are a Charismatic Baptist church.
Charismatic:
We fully embrace the ongoing, present work and gifts of the Holy Spirit—like speaking in tongues, prophecy, and healing—as a normative, vibrant, and crucial part of our individual relationship with God and life together.
Baptist: the best way to explain this is with the following acrostic
B — Biblical Authority
The Bible alone is the final authority for faith and practice.
Creeds, traditions, and church leaders may help guide us, but Scripture is the final court of appeal.
A — Autonomy of the Local Church
Each local congregation is self-governing under Christ.
No bishop, denomination, or outside authority controls the church. Associations and conventions exist for cooperation, not control.
P — Priesthood of All Believers/Perseverance of the Saints
Priesthood: Every believer has direct access to God through Christ, without needing a human mediator.
This also means every Christian has responsibility in ministry and discipleship, not just clergy.
Perseverance: Salvation is irrevocable, eternal, and wrought in Christ. Also known Once saved, Always Saved.
T — Two Sacramental
Ordinances
Baptists recognize two sacramental ordinances commanded by Christ:
Believer’s Baptism — by immersion, after personal faith.
The Lord’s Supper — a participatiry, memorial, proclamation of Christ’s death.
I — Individual Soul Liberty
Each person is personally responsible before God in matters of faith.
No one can be forced into belief; faith must be voluntary.
S — Saved Church Membership
Church membership should consist of regenerate believers, not merely people born into a church or culture.
Hence: • Believer’s baptism
• Personal conversion
• Disciple-centered church life
T — Two Offices
Historically, Baptists recognize two church offices:
• Bishops/Pastors/Elders
• Deacons
Church governance varies, but these are the two offices clearly seen in the New Testament.
If this describes you, it would be safe to say that you are a Charismatic Baptist as well. If thats the case, we would love to have you in service with us!
