To the Christian...
Who are we... Really?

We live in a world of imperfect love, so when we come to possess a love as absolutely perfect as we have in Christ we recoil like a worm to the touch. After all, if it sounds too good to be true... we have been raised to believe it probably is.

You see as Christians we could answer the above question with a multitude of worldly titles, present failures, and past sins and spend all our time contemplating who we were, thinking about what we are not, and worrying about pleasing men and maintaining our titles.

Or...

We can embrace what the scriptures say about those who are in Christ Jesus and take it on faith that we are who God says we are, because He breathed scripture into existence for us in Christ even as He breathed life into us the day we came to believe Christ was our only hope for life.

Not only that...

We can walk away from who we no longer are and throw away the outdated I.D. (what use is an outdated I.D. anyway?) and we can walk into the promises God says we have in Christ with our new I.D. in hand. It is walking here that the devils lies crash against the shield of faith that has been hammered and forged with the promises embraced by the believer.

For...

We are who God says we are in Jesus and we cannot be anything other than who God says we are.

Devil got you pulled over?
Pull out your I.D.

Ephesians 1:3-7, 9-14
[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, [4] even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love [5] he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, [6] to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. [7] In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
[9] making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ [10] as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. [11] In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, [12] so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. [13] In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, [14] who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

A Chosen People...

Ephesians Chapter 1:4
The Father has chosen us in Christ before the foundation of the world, so that we should be Holy and blameless before Him in love.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. So the beginning is time, the heavens is space, the earth is matter. These 3 are necessary for all created life to exist.

Yet Christ was in the beginning before the beginning, and He was with the Father, and He and the Father were one God sharing the same Spirit according to John chapter 1.

So if the top scripture is true then it is also true that God loved those who hear the gospel and embrace it before there was time, space, matter, or any other thing. He said, these will be mine and I will bring them into the eternal love that me and my son share so that they may share it with us being filled with the Holy Spirit and eternally loved and presently unified to the one true God. Not because we are great, or were deserving or more special than any one else, we were blind and and dead sinners under the power of satan. So God chose us because He is mighty to save and chose you for Himself as His child.

Our dads pass eventually but our Father in heaven is forever ours and He has said, I will adopt that one so that... He can have my mercy and shine my light.
So that he may exist Holy and blameless before me in love. So that we may ever be filled with wonder and praise that the creator would eternally love people like us. Yes!! To the glory of His grace!!

Let that light shine outward that has shone inward and do it with your mouth and your hands.

Keep your battery charged by abiding close to Christ in prayer, the Word and praise and assembly...

But don't blaspheme by imagining what God chose and illuminated could ever go completely dead.

For if you are in Christ the Father brought your dead heart to life and gave it light and He never makes a mistake

God... You chose me?... Thank you!

The cry of a saint.

Who are you saint?

I bet you would begin to describe yourself in all kinds of ways and I bet many of them would be oppositional to scripture. Many times we don't embrace who we are because we have never embraced how we came to be in Christ and the promises He gives to us in Scripture so we drag our way through the world pulling ourselves from one dumb snare to get caught in the next.

But...

When you walk in the revelation of who God says about you it displaces lies and supplements a false diet so severely the world atrophies in the light of the length and depth of Christ's love.

You're identity becomes...

What has Christ said as opposed to my personal opinion about me because the word of God is true and my thoughts about me if they oppose it are a lie.

This weekend we look to our true identity and the shocking realization of how loved God's redeemed are.

God tells you who you are!

We start Ephesians this Sunday at... First Baptist Murfreesboro
S.S. at 9:45
Worship at 10:45

If you plan on complaining when you leave, gossiping, talking about people then stay at home. We want worshippers who can let go of the world , praise Christ, and embrace the truth in thanksgiving and Christ wants the same. Come to worship in Spirit and truth, not to complain in the middle of the service or after.

Love y'all...
Damian
