A big thanks to all of our volunteers and donors who turned out for our annual verenike casserole fundraiser!

We raised around $11,000 (before expenses) and dished out180 meals with the help of 25 volunteers! A extra special big thanks goes to Faith Mennonite Church in Newton for hosting. We couldn't do it without your help!

Thank you so much to the wonderful volunteers who continue to help us with the Retreat Center project! The Retreat Center is a very big part of our camping facilities, offering space for family reunions, church gatherings, and lodging for our staff and volunteers during the summer!

There are currently materials on hand for 18 of 35 projects remaining on the HVAC renovation at the Retreat Center. Work groups can be of any size (within reason). Contact Isaac at 316-217-5626 or Olivia at 316-293-7313 to set up a time for you or your group. If you are interested in working on a weekend, advance notice of two weeks is needed. A lack of construction skills should not keep you from helping. Willing hands and the ability to follow directions are the only requirements. (Activities for those under 18 are limited and likely not at the Retreat Center.)

Happy Throwback Thursday!

Today's camp reflection comes from the Prejunior II camp of 2016.

"I think one of the coolest things about this week was seeing the kids grow from the beginning to the end of the week. Since the camp was so small, we all really got to know one another, and I really believe that every kid left feeling that they connected with someone and that someone at camp loves them. One little boy in particular changed from being harsh and having an attitude and not wanting to do anything with girls (since we have cooties) to making me two friendship bracelets and giving me a big hug saying he will miss me by the end. It’s so cool to see kids grow." –Hannah

Happy Throwback Thursday!

Today's camper reflection comes from the 2021 season, during the First Camp week.

"On the last night, during the late night shelter hang out I stayed and talked with a few campers and just hung out. We were just in a big circle talking about anything and everything, then another camper and I had a conversation between the 2 of us. We just started talking about how much love we share for camp and how much we love to give back to it. We shared similar feelings of how giving back to this place we loved so dearly is important to us. This conversation that I had late into the evening is just another reason I love camp and the community that it creates. " - Schyler

Rain is a wonderful thing indeed, but it can make things extra muddy out at camp. While we do our best to keep the important things clean and dry, some of those puddles do look tempting, calling to mind the childhood joy of watching the water spray up after a good stomp. These photos were taken back in September, following a very heavy rain.

When you have the time and inclination, are you a puddle splasher? Or do you prefer to stay indoors where its warm and dry?

Happy Throwback Thursday! Today's camper reflection comes from 2015.

"This summer has been simply indescribable. I never imagined being able to work in a place that filled me with such love and joy and brought me so close to God. I think one of the most meaningful experiences for me this summer was during one of the pre-junior camps and it really shows what camp does for these kids. I was helping a little girl read through and fill out her camper evaluation and I asked her what her favorite part of camp was. She motioned me to come closer because she didn't want to say it out loud so I got closer and she cupped her hands around my ear and whispered, "Learning about God." It was incredible and filled me with warmth to know that this little girl had experienced God in such a way and was able to feel the love of the spirit. Overall, an amazing experience. I give it a 11/10."
