Thomas More is a Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Gary with an accompanying school. Our parish has over 3,500 families and our school has an enrollment of 500 students. Our main school building includes grades Preschool to Grade 8. Our school is a Roman Catholic faith based community which, in addition to providing an excellent educational foundation, strives to instill in our students comp
assion and respect for all life, fosters self-discipline and provides opportunities to learn life-lessons based upon our belief in Jesus Christ. Our favorite saying is, "excellence happens on purpose" and we encourage our students to strive for personal excellence in everything they do. Thomas More parish in 1945, the new church was ready for its first mass in February 1946. Construction was started for a second church/school/convent in 1948 and St. Thomas More School was founded in 1949. As the parish and school grew, a gym, activity center and nurse’s room were constructed and utilized for both church and school purposes. The third, and present, church had its groundbreaking ceremony in 1967. Over the next several decades, more classrooms and additions were built on to the existing school and parish structure to accommodate the growing population. Thomas More Parish and School has grown into an exciting and nurturing family rooted in its Catholic Vision: Life in the Risen Christ, the celebration of goodness, the commitment to Christian values and our collaboration in the mission of Christ. Thomas More Weis Center, located on the church/school campus, is the hub for parish ministries and offers a meeting facility for parish activities.
