Today at The Sweet Stuff Ministry: Mountains
Psalm 145:3 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
One of my favorite places on earth is Laramie, Wyoming. I love the town and the landscape around it. We enjoy going there to spend time fishing and relishing the mountain ranges.
From Laramie, Wyoming, the snow-capped Medicine Bow mountains are visible. This 100-mile mountain range is part of the Rocky Mountains. Even though the mountain range is over 30 miles from Laramie, its magnificence can be seen across the plains from almost anywhere in town.
There is a scenic drive through the Snowy Range of the Medicine Bow area. Along the way, many hiking trails and areas for enjoying nature can be found. The most beautiful of all the stops is Lake Marie. I could spend the entire day sitting on the rocks and taking pictures at this spot. I took the photo below the last time we were there. If only the camera could completely capture what the eyes really see!
As I stood at the bottom of the mountain, I felt so small in comparison to the eminence of the rocks before me. In order for my eyes to take in the enormity of the range, I moved my head about in panoramic fashion, looking left, right, up, and down to capture all the details. The sight is breathtaking!
As I pondered the vast mountains before me, I thought about how I could not climb those mountains even if I had wanted to. They were so large and steep.
God wants us to view the mountains as being too much for us to climb. Any figurative mountain in our lives, the trials, and difficulties, should make us feel so small in comparison to God's strength. We should realize that our own capabilities are nothing compared to what God can do.
May you always feel small when you stand at the foot of a mountain. May this be a revelation that demonstrates God's sovereignty. His omnipotence and omniscience should resonate from the peak of every mountain range that we face in life. The trials and tribulations may seem like impossible mountains to climb but God can equip each of us with the strength and skill to cross over the peak of any elevation.
Lord, we ask you to empower us with your strength to help us climb all the mountains!
