Hopewell United Methodist Church is located 4 1/2 miles from Munford, TN, on Munford-Giltedge Road. Some of the ancestors of the pioneers who founded the church are still members of our congregation. Since it's organization, Hopewell has had three houses of worship. The original church was a frame building and was built in 1885. The land was purchased from John & Mary Cates at a price of $10.00. T
he trustees were J.M. Forbess, W.R. Hunt, and S.R. The minister was Rev. William Watson Adams. The last service that was held in this building was the funeral of Mrs. W.H. Gross. A new stone building was erected in 1946. Members of the building committee were William A. Easley, J.W. Turnage, J. W. Joyner, W. H. Gross, Wallace Easley, R. C. Cullum and Acie G. George. Rev. L. Mack was the Pastor. The last service held in this building was the wedding of Janet Zenar and Teddy Joe Pinner on September 23, 1962. The present brick structure was constructed in 1962 under the pastorate of Rev. R. B. Fleming. Members of the building committee were Cecil Price, John D. Maxwell, Gale Malcomb and Charlie Alsbrook. A fellowship hall was completed in 1987. Jerry Lackey was the pastor at that time. Our present membership is 101 and all are proud of our church and it's place in local history. Our oldest living members are Margie Zenar (female) and Bob Armbruster (male). The parsonage was completed in 1958. It was built on land given by Acie & Annie George. Sixteen Ministers and their families have lived in the parsonage.
