Today, we looked at a heavy but important part of Israel's history: the fall of the Northern Kingdom under King Hoshea. Despite God’s patience, miracles, and repeated warnings through the prophets, the people chose to worship idols and reject God's covenant. Eventually, God allowed Assyria to conquer Israel, bringing judgment on their sin.

Israel’s story reminds us that sin has real consequences, and we all fall short of God’s standard. But the story doesn't end in judgment! God’s immense love provided the ultimate way to rescue us. Jesus took the punishment for our sin on the cross so that anyone who trusts in Him receives full forgiveness, the Holy Spirit, and eternal life with God.

How to Talk About It at Home

Younger Ones: Remind them that even when we make wrong choices, Jesus took our punishment so we can pray, be forgiven, and stay close to God forever.

Older Kids: Ask them: "Why do you think God sent prophets to warn Israel?" Talk about how God's warnings come from love, and how Jesus restores our relationship with God.

Family Action Step
Take a moment tonight to pray together! Thank God for His patience with us and for sending Jesus to save us from destruction.

Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday! ✝️❤️

We hope you can join us on Sunday!

We’ll be looking at the final days of the Northern Kingdom of Israel under King Hoshea. Despite God’s incredible patience, grace, and repeated warnings through the prophets, the Israelites continued to turn toward idols and reject His covenant. Ultimately, God’s judgment fell, and Assyria conquered the nation, removing the people from their homeland.

Our takeaway will be: When we do not listen to God, we can pray and ask Him to forgive us. Jesus took our punishment so we can be with God forever.

We are excited to see you kids at either 10:00 or 11:30 AM!

We had an amazing Sunday at UC Kids. Today we learned about the story in Isaiah when King Ahaz was afraid of enemy armies: When we are scared, we can stand firm on God’s promises!

God gave a powerful sign—a child named Immanuel, which means "God with us." We talked about how this points straight to Jesus, who came to be right by our side no matter what we face!

Ask your kids these questions to talk about what they learned today:

1. What does Immanuel mean?

2. What can our family do when we feel worried or afraid?

Sunday, August 23rd

This week, we looked at the story of Jonah! We saw how Jonah ran from God's calling, yet God showed immense mercy—not just by saving Jonah with a great fish, but by extending His grace and forgiveness to the entire city of Nineveh when they repented.

Today we learned that God's plan is BIGGER than our plans.

💡 Family Discussion Question:

1. Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days. How long was Jesus in the tomb?”

2. Who can you share the good news of Jesus with? What will you tell them?

3. How did you see God's patience in today's story?

Use these motions to practice the memory verse at home:

"It is the Lord your God"
Motion: Point high up to the sky with your right index finger.

"you must follow,"
Motion: March your two index fingers forward in front of you, one after the other.

"and him you must revere."
Motion: Cross your hands over your heart and bow your head slightly.

"Keep his commands"
Motion: Open both hands like a book, then cup them together
against your chest to "keep" it close.

"and obey him;"
Motion: Place your hand over your ear as if listening intently, then nod your head firmly.

"serve him"
Motion: Hold both palms face up in front of you and sweep them forward, like presenting a gift or serving food.

"and hold fast to him."
