Local churches have been facing the challenge of keeping all focus on Jesus since the very beginning of the Church. In Galatians 3:1-5, Paul wrote about the all-sufficiency of Jesus Christ and the sign of Christ, the all-sufficiency of the Holy Spirit for both regeneration and sanctification. Throughout Galatians we can find clues for spotting the bewitching that would rival Christ, and we also learn of the power of the Holy Spirit, by faith in Jesus, for keeping us on track.

One day we will stand before God. We read in Galatians 2:15-21 how we can do so safely, exploring the topics of justification; union with Christ; covenant partners; and the victorious, sacrificial love of God. We will not stand before God by our goodness but by faith in Jesus alone, because of God's grace alone, through Jesus Christ alone. Through Jesus we can live now to God in peace. Only through Jesus.

Paul doesn't just tell us--in Galatians 1:11-2:14--how he was changed, freed, and given courage to share the gospel. He tells us that Jesus himself changed him, freed him, and gave him courage. The gospel is the story of how Christ fulfilled all the Old Testament covenants and brings us who believe in him transformation, freedom, and courage. The gospel is Jesus' story of what he is, did, and continually does.

Our sermon on Sunday: Patience is a high and holy priority. Paul calls Christians to pursue patience with one another in every single one of his thirteen epistles. As we review all thirteen of those passages, we discover that we can expect patience from God, that patience befits right doctrine, that Christ was the paragon of patience by meeting us where we were, and that patience bears burdens that require Christ's empowering strength to carry. What time is it? It's always time for patience.
