The Salvation Army - Muncie, Indiana Loving God and loving our neighbors. In 1865, The Salvation Army began as a movement to work with the down and out in London, England's poorest slums.

Helping the needy was not a popular activity in that society, but The Salvation Army's early founders were motivated by their desire to practically share the love of God. They felt strongly that it wasn't enough to simply preach the hope of Jesus Christ without doing something about the miserable condition so many suffered through in their daily lives. Thus a powerful pattern of the Church took sh

ape among those early Salvos: compassionate service and loving expressions of the Gospel working in tandem to great effect. Here in Muncie, we're seeking to continue to tap into that tradition. We serve in practical ways through our social work programs and assistance, and we provide spiritual encouragement and teaching for anyone who desires to explore faith or grow in their relationship with God.
