I want to thank everyone who joined us for worship this morning. It has been my privilege to be a part of this community. Thank you for making me a part of the Mulliken Church. Future posts will come from Katie Price, who administers this page. ~Pastor Vaughn

All are welcome to tomorrow's Christmas Sunday service. We will be reading the Christmas story and singing carols.

It will also be my last Sunday leading worship. You have been a wonderful congregation to be a part of. Thank you!

Please join us this Christmas Sunday for singing and Scripture as we celebrate the coming of Jesus into our world. If you like Christmas carols, this service is for you. We start at 9:30.

“Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger."

Christmas isn't just another birthday party. It is the coming of God to earth in the life of our Jesus. It is God hidden in the ordinary swaddling of an infant child. I know Christmas can be hard. Some of you have lost dear loved ones, and you might be looking for God somewhere, a bit of hope amid all the grief. Look for him in the ordinary. Look for him in places you don't expect to find him, because that is where God comes.

God comes to join us in the common, ordinary, even painful places of our life. God comes to transform what we thought was common into something holy and beautiful.

I am so grateful I was able to spend Christmas Eve with some of you. Blessings as you celebrate God’s coming to earth.

Looking forward to worship in the morning. We will talk about rest as a way into love with love. And don’t we all need a little rest?

An announcement:

“As you are all aware, we have been struggling with tight finances for quite some time. Just before the Thanksgiving holiday we realized that moving into the new year we will not be able to support our current ministry arrangement, in particular our pastoral support package. We immediately contacted our District Superintendent, Rev. Jerry DeVine, who then met with us earlier this past week. He is working with us, using other district leadership as well, to consider what the impact may be and what our options might be. In the meantime, he encourages us to remain faithful in our participation and our giving so that we remain stable as the future unfolds. Please continue to keep our ministry in prayer as we walk the pathway ahead. This is the season of Advent where celebrate our expectation that light shines in the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it. As more information becomes available we will share it with you and will plan for a time to meet with our DS as a congregation in the very near future.”

This flu bug is nasty one. I will not be in worship. Lay Speaker, Andy Sass, will bring our message. Unfortunately that also means the service will not be live streamed.

Shared with me by my wife:

But months later, the trauma washed over me, drowned me. I happened to be on a retreat, and we had shared our lives with one another, and I had finally told my story, and the gravity of it crushed me down. Quite literally. As I made my way to my room, I sat on the floor. Then I fell over. I curled i
