Love in Action at Holy Spirit, Woodstown

This past weekend, our Woodstown church was filled with energy, generosity, and the unmistakable spirit of Christ’s love. More than 100 volunteers — families, teens, parishioners, and friends — came together to make 1,100 sandwiches for our neighbors in need. These meals were delivered to Home for the Brave and Sober Living, offering nourishment, dignity, and a reminder that no one is forgotten.

In serving the hungry and caring for the poor, we are living the very mission Jesus gives us: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” This simple act of kindness became a powerful sign of community — hands working together, hearts united, love made visible.

As we journey toward Easter, this moment shines as a glimpse of resurrection hope. When we lift one another up, when we feed the hungry, when we choose compassion over comfort, we participate in the very love Christ poured out for the world.

Thank you to every volunteer who showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and made a difference. This is what a living Church looks like.

An Angel Among Us

Every now and then, God sends us a reminder that compassion has no age limit — and this year, that reminder came through 12‑year‑old Maddy Reim. As a New Year’s resolution, Maddy set her heart on helping cancer patients feel comforted during treatment. What began as a simple idea from a child who wanted to make a difference has grown into something extraordinary.

With the support of parishioners, Pleasant Valley School, and her own circle of family and friends, Maddy has created 287 Care Bags filled with puzzles, coloring books, inspirational bracelets, hand sanitizer, and handwritten motivation cards. Each bag is assembled with love, hope, and the belief that small acts of kindness can lift someone’s spirit in a difficult moment. These bags will be delivered on Easter Monday to Inspira — a beautiful gesture of resurrection hope in action.

In this season when we remember Christ giving Himself for others, Maddy’s kindness becomes a small reflection of that same love — bringing comfort, hope, and light to those carrying heavy crosses. Maddy’s compassion has inspired an entire community. Her leadership, her heart, and her willingness to think beyond herself remind us what it looks like to live our faith with joy. Truly, an angel walks among us.
