YPATT is a non-profit food pantry that provides nourishment and support for individuals and families in need in Mullica Hill, South Harrison, Mantua, East Greenwich and Elk Twp., NJ. Your Place at the Table began a few years ago as a small food pantry, serving a few families in the community. Soon, members of the congregation began to open up and approach the ministry team with their needs as they
were experiencing financial difficulties. With the expansion and the awareness created by the presence of the program of the church other needs were assessed and from all the research and referrals the team realized that a regular soup kitchen was not practical in the church as there is no access to public transportation in the area. We started offering boxed groceries but as the voice spread out and our presence in the community became more visible the demand for deliveries increased and now 70 % of the food baskets are delivered. Volunteers offer their cars and their time to deliver the meals.We have added fresh produce and other fresh ingredients such as bread and in many cases hams, chicken and turkeys. We understand those who are struggling financially have a hard time maintaining healthy eating habits as sometimes fresh food is not available or too expensive for their consumption. We have partnered with farmers in our community to obtain products in a collaborative effort to also help them as they are also struggling to keep their farms afloat. The second area covered by this ministry offers access to a collaborative network of emergency assistance organizations, employment opportunities and education. Our deliveries are accompanied with church and ministries information. We also connect people with other agencies and organizations by referrals.
