First Presbyterian Church, Mountain View, MO

First Presbyterian Church, Mountain View, MO Presbyterians are Christian & Protestant Our church is governed by elders elected from and by the congregation. We believe in only one baptism. Pastor Diane Cooke

We believe in:
* Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord and Savior
* Almighty God, the creator and sustainer of the universe
* The Holy Spirit, the presence of god in the world
* The Trinity, one God known as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
* The Bible, the inspired word of God
* The Church, the living Body of Christ on earth and the community of faith made up of Christ's followers
* Two Sacraments,

baptism for all ages and the Lord's Supper

Ours is a form of Christianity which is democratically organized. We practice open Communion, that is, all baptized Christians are welcome to share in the sacrament. We recognize baptism in other Christian churches as authentic and true. Presbyterians believe that our faith is one way of being Christian, and yet it is not the only way. We reach out to other Christian faiths in a spirit of cooperation as we seek to serve Christ in our daily lives. Please join us on Sundays for Sunday school at 10:00 and Worship at 11:15.

"Memorial Day invites us into a sacred pause. It is more than a long weekend or the unofficial start of summer. It is a day set apart to remember, intentionally and reverently, those who gave their lives in service to others. It is also a day to acknowledge the quiet grief carried by families, friends and communities who continue living in the absence of someone they love."
In today's Mission Yearbook entry, the Rev. Dennis Hysom, Executive Director of Presbyterian Federal Chaplaincies, shares a Memorial Day Devotional. Read the full reflection here: https://hubs.ly/Q04hl-Cn0

A prayer for Earth Day...

Creator God, may we be ever mindful of all of the ways you’ve called us to be good stewards of this marvelous Earth. May you make our hearts and hands be ever willing to set to tasks great and small to serve your creation.

In honor of Earth Day, the Presbyterian Hunger Program invites you to download a resource developed by our partners at Creation Justice Ministries, “The Canopy of Creation: Trees, Faith, and the Work of Justice.” This guide helps congregations explore the connection between faith, environmental care and justice while offering practical ways to take action in their communities.
