We were all heartbroken recently when we looked at the numbers for this year, and decided to cancel The Point for 2022. But then we got to thinking…what if The Point could still happen, just in a different location?

Imagine if you will the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. Same dates, same time, just a new location. UBARU is an amazing place!

But wait, there’s more! We can still have those treasured activities like BINGO Night! We can still have all the fun of building puzzles together or coloring! We can still have fun in the water!

And there’s even more! More water fun, more sunset talks, more games, more morning worship, more archery, more Star Parties…

We are still figuring out all the details, but the basics are up on the website https://www.thepointuu.org/ as well as on the UBarU site https://www.ubaru.org/the-point-at-ubaru.

Same time:
July 24-29, 2022

NEW place:
UBARU Camp and Retreat Center
277 UBarU Drive
Mountain Home, TX 78058

UBarU is at the end of Thrill Hill Dr off I-10 and about 8 miles south of US 290.

Price for adult with lodging, all meals and programming is $450 for the 5 night event. Children, youth and young adults can attend for less, based on ages. If you bring your RV (we can accommodate 3 with power only), cost is just $350 for adults. Got to the websites above or click here to register:
https://campscui.active.com/orgs/UBarUCampandRetreatCenter #/selectSessions/3177037 . We will be advertising more widely starting Saturday June 25 at 5pm, so please register quickly to ensure your spot!

We are Re-UUnited in 2022!

Dear Campers,

It is with sadness and regret that we must inform you that we will not be holding The Point once again this year.

In its 95 year history, SWUUSI, or The Point, has only been cancelled for 4 of those 95 years: once due to the start of World War II, and then three consecutive years due to the onset and ramifications of the Global COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Point has struggled with its identity in the past, with revitalization efforts, new programming, new staff, and a new (old) location, we had begun to regain momentum and build back our beloved community each July. However, when the Pandemic hit, so hit an economic crisis. Travel and facilities are now more expensive than ever, and it has been difficult to keep costs low enough to make The Point the accessible family camp we have known and loved.

Into the future, we will be seriously considering if it is possible to make The Point relevant, accessible, and a high point of Unitarian Universalist community once again. We enter this year as a year of discernment over what our UU Families in the South need to build community.

If you have paid your registration and housing fees, those will be refunded to you via the payment plan you originally used asap.

Thank you for 95 years of UU Community. We hope to see you down the road again sometime soon.
