Music & Choir Director

Part-Time – 6-8 hrs/week – $15,000–$17,000/year

Faith Lutheran Church is a progressive, affirming congregation in midtown Little Rock. We are seeking a Music & Choir Director to lead our small, enthusiastic choir and provide accompaniment for Sunday worship. Our worship style leans traditional with a warm, informal spirit.

Responsibilities:
-Lead weekly Wednesday evening choir rehearsals (8–10 singers)
-Provide piano accompaniment for Sunday morning worship (10:00 am)
-Assist pastor with worship planning
-Support special services and seasonal observances throughout the year

Qualifications:
-Piano proficiency required; organ experience preferred
-Experience directing choirs or vocal groups required
-Collaborative, people-centered approach to music ministry
-Comfort working within a progressive, inclusive faith community

With the trend in lay ministry only expected to grow, the ELCA’s synod-authorized minister (SAM) program is quickly becoming more important to congregations. A SAM is a layperson who isn’t ordained but receives training to serve a congregation as an extension of, or in place of, a pastor.

Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has issued a statement on Venezuela.

"As God’s beloved, Christians share in Jesus’ ministry and compassion for the vulnerable. Our prayers remain with the people of Venezuela...Our church walks in solidarity with them through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Venezuela — their people, pastors, deacons and ministries."
