As Tecaboca officially closes its gates, we give thanks for a ministry that spanned more than 85 years, one rooted in Marianist values, care for creation, and faith-filled community.

This sacred space has been a home for countless retreats, summer camps, and quiet moments of reflection. Thank you to every person who helped shape Tecaboca into more than a place — you made it a lasting ministry of love, growth, and spirit.

Its mission lives on in all who carry Tecaboca in their hearts. 💙

TECABOCA has been a meaningful part of so many lives for over 85 years. As we prepare for the closure of the ministry, we’re taking time to reflect, say thank you, and honor the impact it’s had.

Thank you for being part of the TECABOCA community. We’re looking forward to celebrating this legacy together on May 4th, 2025.

A special farewell event is planned for Sunday, May 4, 2025, to gather in gratitude for all that TECABOCA has offered over the years. More details will be shared soon. In the meantime, we invite you to share your memories and photos—send them to [email protected] or send us a private message by February 25, 2025.

Spring retreat reservations will still be honored, but after May 31, 2025, new bookings will not be accepted. For those with summer camp plans, refunds will be issued.

Let’s continue to hold this place and all who have been a part of it in our hearts and prayers.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the closure of Tecaboca Camp and Retreat Center, a cherished place in the Texas Hill Country for over 85 years. From retreats to summer camps, it has welcomed generations and instilled Marianist values.

We offer our deepest gratitude to all who contributed to its success over the years. Let’s pray together in thanks for the many blessings that Tecaboca brought to so many.

“Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright…”

As we begin the Holy Year “Pilgrims of Hope”, we pray together with Pope Francis “that we may bear credible and attractive witness to the faith and love that dwell in our hearts; that our faith may be joyful and our charity enthusiastic; and that each of us may be able to offer a smile, a small gesture of friendship, a kind look, a ready ear, a good deed, in the knowledge that, in the Spirit of Jesus, these can become, for those who receive them, rich seeds of hope.” (Hope does not disappoint, 18)

“May the way we live our lives say to them in so many words: “Hope in the Lord! Hold firm, take heart, and hope in the Lord!” (Ps 27:14). (Hope does not disappoint, 25)

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a day of great significance to the Marianist Sisters, the Daughters of Mary Immaculate. We also remember the founding of the first Marianist Sodality in 1800 and the vows of the first members of the Society of Mary.

On this special day, let us pray:

Creator God, in your gracious providence
You always care for us.
The immaculate conception of the Virgin Mary
is witness to your plan of salvation.
Let the fullness of your grace, which enfolded Mary,
kindle in our hearts the light of hope to all with
whom we come into contact.
Let our lives be lives of praise and service.
Let us be leaders of positive change for our
Church and for the world.
May the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit
be glorified in all places
through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen.

Happy National Cat Day! Today we remember with love and gratitude Jim West who rescued many feline friends who’ve graced Tecaboca with their charm in years past! 🐾 Today’s the purr-fect day to celebrate these curious visitors. Let’s be honest—cats are very much like campers and retreat participants when it comes to napping and chasing after a beautiful sunset (or maybe just a bird).

Much like our young adventurers in the summer, these furry visitors bring joy and curiosity wherever they go! 🐱

As a youth camp and retreat ministry sponsored by the Marianists, at Tecaboca we unite ourselves in prayer with the whole Family of Mary for the success of the General Chapter of the Society of Mary (S.M. - The Marianists) meeting in Rome during the month of July.
