Emmett Dean Dooms, age 77, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida, surrounded by love.
Dean lived a healthy, active, and fulfilling life prior to his diagnosis in 2018. He faced his health journey with remarkable courage, grace, and unwavering faith. True to his selfless nature, his greatest concern was never for himself, but for how his illness might affect the lives of those he loved.
Dean was born on November 13, 1948, in Forest Grove, Oregon, to Ivel and Della Dooms. He spent most of his childhood in Mountain Grove, Missouri, where he built lifelong friendships and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1966.
It was there, at just five years old, that he met the love of his life, Connie Morris (affectionately known as “Hootie”), beginning a love story that spanned 72 years and 56 years of marriage. From this union were born two children, James Bradley Dooms and Angela Leigh Dooms.
Dean earned a degree in Marketing from Southwest Missouri State in 1970. Following graduation, he completed officer training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and proudly served in the United States Army in both active and reserve capacities, achieving the rank of Captain before receiving an honorable discharge in 1986.
After his military service, Dean built a distinguished career in manufacturing and logistics, which took his family across four states. He concluded his professional journey with Reckitt Benckiser (R.T. French Company), where he dedicated 35 years of service and held multiple leadership roles, most recently as Plant Manager and Western Regional Logistics Manager. Dean was widely respected for his strong work ethic, steady leadership, and unwavering integrity.
Above all else, Dean treasured time with his family. He found great joy on the golf course, sharing countless rounds with family and friends—especially on destination golf trips alongside Connie and their close circle of friends. As a skilled and passionate golfer, Dean proudly achieved two hole-in ones over the years, accomplishments he cherished. Whether golfing, traveling, or simply enjoying quiet moments together, Dean lived with a gentle steadiness and warm spirit that touched everyone he met. He will be remembered most for his amazing smile, a true reflection of the kindness and joy he carried in his heart.
Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Dooms of Bradenton, Florida; daughter, Angie Dooms; grandchildren, Abby and Mateo Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Larry Dooms (Vicky) of Springfield, Missouri; brother, Rodney Dooms (Karen) of Fort Myers, Florida; sister, Vicki Lawson; daughter-in-law, Paula Harper of West Palm Beach, Florida; sisters-in-law, Jackie Morris of Springfield, Missouri, and Karla Morris of Mountain Grove, Missouri; along with a host
of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivel and Della Dooms; his son, James Bradley Dooms; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Chasteen and Shilah Morris; and brothers-in-law, Sonny Morris and Bill Morris.
A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at Calvary Temple Friday, April 10. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM & service at 11:00.
