ARE YOU CALLED OR ARE YOU CHOSEN?
(read)MATTHEW 22: 1-14 KJV
Matt 22:14 Many are called, few are chosen. What does that mean? Not what some of us were taught.
*"Called" is God's invitation or offer of Salvation to EVERYONE. But only a select few truly respond with faith, repentance and transformed lives, being "Chosen" to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. symbolized here by wearing the proper wedding garment of righteousness through Christ. it's not enough to just hear the gospel. Hearing is being called.
*"Chosen" distinguishes the difference in those who hear, and remain the same and those who are truly saved and clothed in righteousness, for they are the chosen. Luke 13:24 says strive to enter in at the straight gate, for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. now let's go back over Matthew 22:1-14 and break the parable down clearly.
*The King,, is God the Father
*"The Son",, is Jesus
*the Son's wedding,, is the Kingdom of Heaven.
*the called guests,, originally were the Jews that rejected Jesus. Today it's everyone.
*The servants,, are the Prophets and messengers, (preachers, Pastors,Teachers, Evangelists).
*Good and Bad guests,, sinners, gentiles and people brought in after the initial rejection. That's us believers today
*The wedding garment,, is Christ's righteousness, a transformed heart or faith and obedience, being Born Again.
*The Man cast out,, is someone who accepted the invitation but lacked the necessary spiritual preparation. (He believed in Jesus but never surrendered, followed, obeyed, never clothed himself in Christ's righteousness, only in self righteousness, and was never saved). Therefore was cast out of God's Kingdom into darkness, where there's weeping and gnashing of teeth (Hell).
* verse 14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
SO, the call is God's offer of salvation.. An active response is required!! A genuine, internal transformation and choice to follow God is necessary. The chosen few are those who respond with faith, repentance, and obedience. There is a WARNING here! Many will hear but fail to truly accept and live the faith, leaving them unprepared. When the rapture takes place, they WILL be left behind. Or upon death on earth, they will not enter Heaven. Again, here we can apply Luke 13:24, strive to enter in at the straight gate for many, I say unto you will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Again here, Jesus says FEW will find it. The path to eternal life REQUIRES discipline, righteousness and avoiding worldly distractions, (which is that wide and easy road). The word strive implies a struggle, meaning this path ain't easy. It requires effort and perseverance against temptation and pride.
*God's path,, is following God's unchanging direct path, staying within His boundaries. Following His Word and being led by His Spirit.
*God's path is the same for everyone! We may stray in different sins. BUT His direct path remains unchangeable. We must keep ourselves on His path that leads to life everlasting.
*Staying on the path involves prayer, scripture study and self-assessment, laying down your old ways, sinning no more, keeping our heart with love, righteousness and set on eternal goals. Walking by faith and not by sight.
"CHOSEN" is the Holy people, set apart for God's Kingdom. Us true believers are a chosen race, a royal priesthood. (read) 1 Peter 2:9 kjv
We have a purpose to bear fruit, the good fruit according to God's Holy Word. AND be light unto the world.

Be ready, for we will be persecuted and hated for his name sake. Don't be offended, but count it a blessing.

So, who is CALLED? We all are. ALL are Called. BUT, ONLY those who accept the invitation, follow the command and obey the Lord, THESE ARE THE CHOSEN.
