Friends, our longest serving elder, George Bray, was called to his heavenly home this past Sunday, May 31, 2026. You may read about the details of George’s life in the obituary provided by Calvert & Wikoff:

https://calvertmemorial.com/obituaries/george-bray

George was a steady, faithful member of our church and community, having been ordained in 1959. He often shared that he talked with God while enjoying his favorite hobby of working in the garden on his and Alice’s 1-acre property—first calling it “God’s Little Acre,” and later “God’s Big Acre” as the years went by.

The family tells us George’s favorite Bible passage came from Ecclesiastes 3:1–8. Verse 1 says:

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

That feels fitting right now. We thank God for the time we had with George, and trust he is now tending the gardens of peace in heaven.

Services for George S. Bray will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home in Mt. Zion, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

We thank God for the life of George S. Bray, and we pray for his family in this time, as he is called to the church triumphant.

George was born on August 7th, 1928 and passed away on May 31st, 2026 at the age of 97
