This is a repost of Micah Kelley's post this week:
On the 11th of January 1998 a few close friends and I opened the doors to The Gathering, a college aged group that would, become a church on Easter of 1999. Since that time God has used that community to raise people in His word, heal many wounds, create great friendships, start a fair amount of families, raise up leaders, and see His glorious name praised. Also in that time many mistakes have been made, many by me, but I pray that God's great accomplishments have outweighed the damaged that I may have caused.
Now, after over sixteen years, the season of The Gathering is coming to a close. I am suffering from great heart break, but I am also hopeful for the life that God has for my family and others outside of it's walls. I am also charged to lead the people of The Gathering in true worship until it's last day. By God's grace I will lead them in repentance, adoration, and ultimately celebration. On the 29th of this month we will come together for the last time as The Gathering. I want to invite all of you who have been a part of the life of The Gathering to come and celebrate with us what The Gathering has been and all that God has done through it. Many of you have met your spouses here, dedicated your children here, learned and worshiped here. The doors are open to you, I would be blessed to worship with you one last time at The Gathering. Thanks to all of you that have been a part of The Gathering over this last 16 years.
