On Sunday, May 25, Knox OPC met for worship and fellowship one last time. This sermon on Psalm 77 reminds us of the Lord's work at Knox, work that will last in the lives of its members as they move on to other places to worship and serve.

Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.

Before our Father's throne
we pour our ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.

We share our mutual woes,
our mutual burdens bear,
and often for each other flows
the sympathizing tear.

When we are called to part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.

This glorious hope revives
our courage by the way;
while each in expectation lives
and waits to see the day.

From sorrow, toil, and pain,
and sin, we shall be free;
and perfect love and friendship reign
through all eternity.

Psalter Hymnal, 1987

Sadly, Knox OPC will end operations after services on Sunday, May 25, due to declining membership.

The following churches may be an alternative for people seeking a Reformed and Bible-based place to worship:

I grew up in Baltimore, MD, and attended the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, which was a STEM high school before STEM became a popular term for science, technology, engineering, and math education. The best-known graduate of Poly, as it is called, is H.L. Mencken, which is odd because he was a journalist, having nothing to do with STEM occupations. But in any case, I was surprised to find a series of online posts about Menken's thoughts on J. Gresham Machen, the founder of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. I post the stories here without endorsement.

With today's sermon, our quick and rich study of Jonah ends. What a blessing to learn about God's grace on Nineveh , as well as the patience shown to Jonah. This prodigal prophet, like the prodigal son of Luke 15:11-32, refused to rejoice in the salvation of the lost. Understanding our own sin, may our hearts be for the gospel to be heard by all people, that some may come to faith in Jesus Christ!
