Today in SHinE Kids, we kicked off a new series called
Choices: Lessons from some Kings.

Our theme verse for the series comes from Joshua 24:15, reminding us that each day we must choose whom we will serve.

This week’s lesson focused on King Saul (1 Samuel 13; 15). The kids learned:
• Saul cared more about people’s approval than obeying God
• Partial obedience is still disobedience
• God values obedience more than excuses

We talked about 1 Samuel 15:22, where we learn that obeying God matters more than simply saying the right things or making sacrifices.

Big question for the kids:
Am I trying to please people, or am I choosing to obey God?

We’re excited to continue this series next week as we look at the life of King David and what it means to have a heart after God.
