LifePointe Student Ministry We are the student ministry at LifePointe church in Mount Vernon! We believe we are here to be disciples of Jesus and live out His purposes for our lives!

All students 12-18 are invited to join us every Friday night 7-10pm for our youth service!

Youth group tomorrow 7-10! Last episode in season 2

Salt, in this metaphor, symbolized the spiritual cleansing (or purification) of the disciple. This purification is the dominant trait of a disciple of Christ. Jesus emphasized the need for this spiritual purification because he was concerned for the world and wanted to reach the world for the Kingdom! Also salt was used for common people he was addressing fishermen, shepherds and laborers that were virtuous and worthy.

No youth Friday but come join us for Good Friday Service at 7.
A New Covenant
Jesus was later led to the top of a hill, where Roman soldiers killed him on a different kind of tree⏤a wooden cross (see John 19:16-18). There they broke his body and poured out his blood, thinking they could destroy him with their tree of death. But they underestimated Jesus. They tried to take his life, but they did not realize that Jesus willfully gave it, like giving a sacrificial lamb, in order to cover the sins of the entire world. Rather than fighting against his enemies or protecting himself, he goes through death (e.g. Galatians 3:13-14) and is resurrected three days later! This is a new kind of sacrificial lamb that was slain for a new kind of covenant.
