Spirit Life International exists to promote the ministry of the Holy Spirit as it pertains to the advancing of the Kingdom through "equipping the saints for the work of the ministry," evangelism, church planting, church revitalization, and renewal. On Mother's Day in 1980, John Wimber, former National Director of the Vineyard Movement, has invited a young preacher named Lonnie Frisbee to minister
at his church in California. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your rising.”
Frisbee then asked all those who were younger than twenty-five to come forward for ministry time. He then began to prophecy over them. It was during this ministry time that Frisbee prayed a simple prayer, “Holy Spirit, Come.” What followed afterward would be the birth of a movement through the ministry of John Wimber which continues to grow in influence to this very day. Wimber popularized the phrase as “Come, Holy Spirit,” a simple, intentional invitation for the Holy Spirit to move in power among a willing and open people. Spirit Life International continues to press forward with an emphasis on the intentionality of being a Spirit-filled people. This intentionality is seizing every opportunity and avenue to teach, preach, demonstrate, and reproduce both individuals and ministries driven by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.
