From Scott,

Dear all,

In a lovely gesture to work on building our deanery as a community, the Episcopal Churches in Washington County have included us in “Episcopal Night” at a Hagerstown Boxcars baseball game on June 19th (See attached graphic). We can receive some complimentary tickets, either to use ourselves, or to provide them to less-fortunate folks, and buy our own tickets. (In the past, the MD state Patrol has provided transportation to kids to attend this event…Steve…?)

Here’s what I need to know.

Steve, can you liaise with MSP about possible transportation and Reply-All with whatever their answer is by Monday evening (5/18)?
Everyone else, can you communicate with your leadership and see if anyone is interested in going (whether that would be going yourselves or providing tickets to others), and Reply to me with the number of tickets you need by Friday (5/22)?

I apologize for the short turn-around – I didn’t get this out to you as quickly as I could/should have. Nevertheless, let’s see what we can do.

Thanks!

Coming up this summer, the Frostburg Summer Lunchbox program is going to have a distribution site at Mount Savage School. There are still openings for volunteers who will be able to commit an hour to retrieving the coolers, bringing them to Mount Savage, and checking the kids off a list. There will be a brief training session for volunteers later in this month with another date in June.

If anyone in your organizations are interested, or in you know of another organization that's interested, please pass this one. The link for registration is in the text below my signature:

We are reaching out to invite your organization to be part of something truly meaningful this summer.

The Frostburg Summer Lunch Box Program provides nutritious, ready-to-eat lunches on Monday-Thursday to children in our community who may otherwise go without consistent meals when school is not in session. Programs like ours are critical in helping families access nutritious meals and meet needs without additional financial strain on households.

In addition to providing pre-packed lunches our program aims to mitigate food insecurity by improving food access and cooking skills. On Friday’s, our program will be hosting cooking demonstrations and offering weekly grocery bags to families at the Farmer’s Market at City Place in Frostburg.

This effort is only possible because of dedicated volunteers—and we would love to partner with you.

We are currently recruiting organizations, clubs, ministries, teams, and community groups to support this work. We encourage groups to:

Select a full week to serve together, or
Commit to a consistent weekday (e.g., every Tuesday) throughout the summer
Volunteer roles may include distributing lunches Monday-Thursday at area schools, packing weekly grocery bags, and assisting with cooking demonstrations or supporting the program through other various efforts. Many groups find this to be a rewarding team-building and service experience.

You can view available dates and sign up here:

Even a few hours of your time can make a lasting difference for local children and families.

If you have any questions or would like to coordinate a group volunteer opportunity, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for helping us ensure that no child in our community goes hungry this summer.

With gratitude,
