As some of you may know, Riley Callahan (aka, Wiley) wrapped up his time as a Youth House intern this past Sunday 😢

Just wanted to take this moment to thank Riley for his presence at the Youth House this past year. Riley, you made this place better through your care for our students, your sense of humor, and all the laughs you provided! (tomatoes… iykyk)

This is a place you’re always welcome, and we’re excited for what’s next for you!

This past Sunday we also spent time honoring our very own Mia Larson: aka one of the greatest leaders in Youth House history!

Mia will be stepping away after 9+ years of volunteering at the Youth House. Mia, we love you and are so grateful for the time and energy you gave to this place and all of our students. We are thankful for all the retreats you went on, all the Youth House artwork you made, and sharing the gift that is your dog Pippy with us on Sunday evenings!

We will miss you at Youth Group going forward, but it goes without saying you’re always welcome here!

We had a great time at our Senior Send-off last night honoring our amazing seniors this year: Grayson Gruchot, Meg Peterson, and Signe Swanson! (also want to shoutout our seniors not in the picture: Myles Radom and Loulou Paul!) We love you guys and wish you the best of luck as you take a next big step in life!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support our graduates and to celebrate another year of youth group, enjoy some of these pictures from years past!

This past Sunday we were joined at Youth Group by Edgar Torres, who works with World Relief Chicago. Edgar delivered a meaningful message to our students that dealt with the parable of the good Samaritan (found in Luke 10) and engaged with some of these questions:

Who are the people I deem "strangers" in my life? Who are my neighbors? What does it truly mean to love my neighbor as I do myself?

Grateful for Edgar's time and willingness to join us. May we all spend this week in reflection of how Jesus' words in this parable apply to our lives to today. Especially in our world where citizenship status and political affiliation are at the forefront of many conversations.
