Wesley at CMU

Wesley at CMU Wesley at CMU is the campus community of the United Methodist Church at Central Michigan University. We worship together Sundays at 7 p.m. All are welcome!

Our mission is for all to know themselves as God’s Beloved and to be God’s love in the world. Regular activities during the academic year include Sunday worship, Community lunches, free movies, mid-week study gathering, and service opportunities. Our informal service typically includes music, prayer, Scripture and Sermon, and Communion offered to all. Coffee and goodies are always on!

To end off our introductions, at Wesley, we practice joy! Each semester, our campus ministry hosts a variety of fun events to deepen connections and celebrate the joy of community. This fall, look for the return of our Halloween-time Murder Mystery Party, an end-of-year Christmas celebration, game nights, crafts, nature walks and more!

On Wednesdays we... support our community!

This recent Sunday we attended MainStage on campus and held a Target Gift Card giveaway. Congrats to our winner, Colin!

We also had our first community meal of the year! Thanks to the nice weather we were able to nourish our community outside today!

Meet Audra (she/her)! Audra has been our pastor and director at Wesley for six years, arriving at CMU in 2020. You can find her building beloved community throughout the week at Wesley--from leading worship on Sundays and making home cooked food for our weekly free community meals to taking students out for cups of coffee to connect and chat.

Audra shares that she "loves working with students and helping their creative ideas for justice, mercy, love on our campus come to life!"

We’re worshipping with First UMC this Sunday as they celebrate our return to campus!

Come worship, hear a word from Pastor Kim, grab a coffee, meet a church lady in her natural habitat, and pick up a little goody bag to take with you into your first week of classes.

Whether you’re new to town, back for another semester, or just curious about what church is like around here, come hang out with the Wesley crew and our friends at First UMC!

One thing we value at Wesley is building community that is intentional! Our campus ministry lives into that commitment by operating an 8-person housing unit focused on helping young adults grow in leadership and live in intentional community.

The Wesley House, located on our property in the heart of campus, guides students in developing practices for communal living and conflict resolution at retreats throughout the year, all while offering year-round housing that is intentionally affordable and affirming. This part of our ministry is all about living into our value of supporting student thriving!

At Wesley, we believe that living out our call to love means building community that is inclusive! We affirm that all people are God's beloved and we do our best to create spaces where college students can live into that identity as their full, unique selves.

Our small groups are one expression of that commitment. These small groups meet to celebrate joy and creativity as a spiritual practice, offering opportunities to connect through games, art, and more. They also serve as an opportunity to build a welcoming and inclusive space. Keep an eye out for more information to come on our small group meeting times!

We also love to partner with different organizations and offices on campus, especially CMU LGBTQ to highlight how we believe that all are beloved. From Drag Shows, to GayStage and Lavender Graduation these events are open to anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+, questioning, or an ally. There’s no intention or expectation that folks who join us will come to worship or have any particular relationship the with church.
