The usher ministry at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church holds a profoundly significant and distinctive position within our congregation. It is a calling that genuinely requires individuals possessing exceptional qualities: a heart brimming with warmth, an empathetic spirit, and an unwavering commitment to gracious service. We are immensely blessed by the dedicated men and women who currently serve in this capacity, consistently embodying these virtues and transforming the entry experience for every guest and member into one of genuine welcome and spiritual preparation.
Indeed, the role of an usher transcends mere logistical support; it is one of the most visible and impactful ministries in the church, significantly shaping the initial impression and overall atmosphere of our worship services. Our ushers are the ambassadors of Mount Olive, setting a tone of peace, order, and hospitality from the moment congregants arrive. Their attentive presence ensures a seamless flow, assists with any immediate needs, and helps cultivate an environment where everyone can feel comfortable, valued, and ready to engage in heartfelt worship.
Fundamentally, our service as ushers is rooted in the divine mandate to share God's boundless love. Having personally received the unconditional love of God through Christ, we are called to extend that same divine compassion and acceptance to all. I have served as an usher for several years. I served as president from 2011-2017. I believe that ushering is a ministry and therefore a calling from God to serve Him and His people. The ushers assist the Pastor by helping to prepare everyone to receive the Word of God. I love serving as a doorkeeper in the House of the Lord.

Spotlight Words from Sis. Grace Gee:
Being an usher is more than just a functional role - it is a ministry that reflects Christ's love. Matthew 10:40, "Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me."
I started my usher ministry under the leadership of Sis. Melma Brown about 25 years ago. I've served as minister of Youth Usher, Tenants of the Temple and Brotherly Manner at Mount Olive Baptist Church. In the past, I have taken several leadership roles such as vice-president of Cypress District Association of Ushers and youth teacher. I've served as chancellor for B. M. & E. Regional Ushers. There is a great joy in knowing that I am helping others encounter Christ in a meaningful way.
