A Life Community Church Midweek Devotional

Good Wednesday morning, all! ☀️ Blessings! Last Sunday, Pastor Thomas took a deep dive into how sin has been redefined by man over the years, changes to the definition that God never authorized. Man has decided that some sins are worse than others, and that some sins are even unforgivable. But that’s not God’s definition and that’s not what Jesus said.

In MT 12:31, Jesus said: “Therefore, I say to you, EVERY sin and blasphemy will be forgiven,” with only one exception: “blasphemy against the Spirit.”

Take some time today to listen to this challenging message. Then ask yourself these questions:

1. As a believer, was I taught or do I believe that some sins are worse than others?

2. As a believer, was I taught or do I believe that some sins are unforgivable? Which ones?

3. Have I ever looked at the sins of others and said to myself: “They’re going to hell”?

4. Has this message caused you to rethink your understanding of sin and how you interact with others, knowing that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,” including you?

Happy Hump Day, y’all! And remember: “God’s grace is sufficient, because His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses.” (2 COR 12:9)

NOTE: Due to a scheduling conflict at MTC, there will be NO SERVICE at the Musical Theater Center TODAY. Instead, we will gather on Tuesday night at 6:00 for a Life Group Dinner! Sure hope you are able to join us!

Since we’re not meeting this morning, we still wanted to give you a little spiritual “meat” to chew on…Lynda’s message from last Sunday. Her message was based on Rachel Held Evans’ book “Braving the Truth: Essential Essays for Reckoning with and Reimagining Faith.”

In yesterday‘s LCC e-letter, based on Evans’ book, Lynda left a few points to ponder about distractions:

🕊️ Was the paralytic man lowered from the rooftop in the middle of one of Jesus' sermons a distraction? (MK 2 & LK 5)

🕊️ Was the Canaanite woman who harassed Jesus and his disciples about healing her daughter a distraction? (MT 15)

🕊️ Were the blind men from Jericho who annoyed the crowd with their relentless cries a distraction? (MT 20, MK 10, & LK 18)

The author queried…were these distractions? Well, it’s apparent, Jesus didn't think so. In fact, she said, He seemed to think that they were the point. What do you think?
