Immanuel Lutheran Church

Immanuel Lutheran Church 111 E Main St., Mount Olive, IL, 62069

Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m. Services on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are held at 9:00 a.m.

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mount Olive, IL, is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). Services:
Our weekly worship service is open to everyone and is held in the church every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Christmas Eve service is held at 7:00 p.m. Bible classes and Sunday School:
Bible classes for adults and children are also open to everyone. Sunday adult Bible class and Sunday School cla

ss for children begin at 9:15 a.m. An additional adult Bible class is held every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. All Bible classes are held in the Educational Building adjacent to the church. Communion:
On the first and third Sunday of each month (and on certain holidays), the worship service includes holy communion, with the option of individual glasses or common cup. During communion, the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ is received in, with, and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sin. Since this is a sign of common faith, confirmed members of congregations of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) are invited to partake in communion. All others are asked to speak to the Pastor before communing. Non-communing adults and children may either remain in the pew or process to the front with others in their row to receive a blessing instead of communion. To receive a blessing, cross your hands over your chest once you kneel at the entrance to the alter. If you are more comfortable remaining in your pew, when it is your pew's turn to go, please step into the main aisle briefly so that other's sitting in your row may easily file out. The ushers will indicate when it is your pew's turn to partake in communion. They start with the first occupied pew on the right side of the main aisle. The communion process is simple -- the pews in front of you will always go first, so if you sit near the middle of the church, you'll have a chance to see how the process works before it is your turn. If you have any questions, the ushers are always glad to help. Parking:
Free parking is available on the streets adjacent to the church and in a large parking lot located behind the church. The parking lot offers easy access to the Educational Building, where Bible classes are held. (The church is accessible through the Educational Building or through doors on Main St.) Visitors:
Visitors are always welcome at Immanuel's services, Bible classes, and events. Seating for services is available on the main level of the church and in the balcony. A crying room for nursing and fussy children is accessible near the main entrance to the church. The ushers are glad to help you with directions and assistance. During the offering collection, if you are the person in your pew sitting nearest the main aisle, please sign the attendance book sitting next to you and pass it down to other's in your pew. If you are the last person in the pew to receive the book, simply leave it at your end of the pew when you are finished signing; you do not need to pass it back toward the main aisle. (Signing the book helps us understand when our church is growing and how often we receive visitors. Don't worry, we won't contact you simply because you signed the book.) Offerings received during the services go to fund church programs, expenses, and missionary outreach. Contributions are always appreciated, but not required. If you have questions about how offerings and donations are used, the pastor is happy to provide details. Restrooms, coat racks, and water fountains are available in the Educational Building connected to the church. Accessibility:
The Educational Building (including restrooms) and the main floor of the church are wheelchair accessible. A wheelchair ramp is located inside the Educational Building where it connects to the church. Several pews near the middle of the church are shortened to provide a convenient space for wheelchairs and other medical devices. Handicap parking spaces and a ground-level entrance are available in the large parking lot behind the church. Large-print hymnals and programs are also available. Please ask an usher for more information about these items before a worship service begins. Rentals:
To inquire about holding a wedding or other event in the church or Educational Building, please contact the church office at 217-999-7442.

1. What is a creed and why do we use creeds?
2. God is above the heavens. We don't believe in pantheism.
3. God crowned man with honor and glory. Humans are not "animals." They are the object of God's love and redemption.

Every Wednesday at lunchtime, join your brothers and sisters in Christ by pausing to pray the Litany. The Litany is an ancient order of prayer that Christians have used for hundreds of years. It is a prayer that is relevant every day of our lives, in times of hope, fear, joy and grief.

Pray the Litany:
