It’s Midnight May 24 2026 Pentecost Sunday.
Some folks will say that Pentecost Sunday is the birthday of the Church. They couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Luke’s Gospel chapter 24 verse 49 reads,
“And behold I send the promise of My Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high”

The book of Acts chapter 1 verses 4&5,
“And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which saith He, ye have heard of Me. For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”

The book of Acts chapter 1 verse 8,
“ But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

These words were spoken by our Lord Jesus to the Church. The assembled Apostles and Disciples were the Church that Jesus said the gates of hell could not prevail against. Jesus had died and took their sins and ours to the Cross, He rose from the dead securing their and our redemption and eternal life.

On Pentecost Sunday the Church was not born! On Pentecost Sunday The Church was empowered by the infilling of the Holy Ghost.
There was 120 in that upper room and all had put their faith in Christ, and everyone was filled. There was no one left out, and it is the same this Pentecost Sunday.
The Baptism in the Holy Ghost is a Pentecostal Imperative for everyone who comes to Christ for salvation. It is the second logical step in the sanctification process.
Jesus did not make it an option! He didn’t tell them if they feel like it. He didn’t say, if you feel it’s for you, if not that’s okay. NO!
Jesus commanded His Church to tarry in Jerusalem until they received the promised anointing.
Jesus is still giving that command to His Church today in 2026! It is not an opinion, it is a command. Tarry and pray that you may receive what Almighty God has for you in the Baptism in the Holy Ghost!

Pentecost will change you!
Pentecost took Peter from cowering in fear and denying Jesus to preaching two sermons that brought 3000 and 5000 respectively to salvation and challenged the Jewish leaders by proclaiming Christ as their risen Messiah and refusing to hold their peace.

The fact is, we are a Pentecostal Church and as such we teach Pentecostal Imperatives. It is imperative that every Christian be Baptized in the Holy Spirit! The scripture gives no ground. It is not debatable. It doesn’t ask if it’s okay with us. I will state categorically that being Baptized in the Holy Spirit is as important to the life of a Christian as becoming borne again was to that same person before they were saved.

Church please keep sister Diane in prayer. She just texted me and told me she is in terrible pain with her back and her diverticulitis. She’s been in pain since Sunday.

I came to the Church of God late in my life, I was 39 and wasn’t credentialed until I was 47. I grew up in the Presbyterian Church but left it at 18. There were a few Churches between 18 and 39 and the Church of God was never on my radar. But I am so grateful to God that I found myself in a little Church of God in ‘94. I love the Church of God. My only regret is that it took me so long to get here.

The last two days I have been experiencing the Celebration of Life of a Man of God, an Eagle of the Church Of God, and a beloved mentor. It was a fitting send off of a man who dedicated his life to the Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am sure, if he was looking over the portals of Heaven, he was pleased to see everyone singing praise to Almighty God, because there is no doubt, we had Church!
One last time, good night dear brother Jarman!
We’ll see you in the morning………..

Bishop Jacob Wesley Jarman, my mentor in pastoral ministry and precious friend has finished his course and fought the good fight and entered that City built four square, and embraced the Savior he had preached about all his life.
I met him and his family at the end of myself. Running from God, angry at Church, I visited one Easter Sunday. I was strongly touched, but not willing. I would slip in after services began and out before the altar call. One Sunday evening he chased me out and brought me in. The Bishop, his sweet family and Church all reached out to me in love and acceptance. With his encouragement, I recommitted my life to Christ, and in time to ministry. He brought me into the Church of God. Encouraging me to return to ministry.
BIshop Jarman was my Pastor for over 16 years, and has remained one of my closest friends for much longer than that. Sometimes we argued like an old married couple, but never stopped loving and respecting one another.
He had an encyclopedic mastery of the Word of God, and could he sing! I loved when he sang In The Garden and a song How I Adore Him.
Well. He closed his eyes here and when they opened again he saw the glorious heavenly land he sang and preached about. He took his last breath here, and his next breath was the sweet the rarefied air of Beulahland.
I will never forget our times back in the early day at church, and PCG Retreats. The pillow fight you me and James had like three teenagers in Tennessee. I love you Pastor Jarman (PJ) as I used to call you. And I look forward to seeing you again soon.
To the Jarman family, I love all of you, and I am praying for you. May the God of all comfort be with your spirits in Christ Jesus!
Maranatha!
