Pate Family Cemetery

Pate Family Cemetery Welcome to the Pate Family Cemetery page. These guidelines are designed for the maintenance of the entire Cemetery.

Pate Family Cemetery Guidelines:

The following guidelines were adopted on November 19, 2020, by the Pate Cemetery Committee. These guidelines are intended to promote respect, reverence, fairness and consideration for all of our ancestors. The Committee is not responsible for any loss or damage caused by acts of nature, thieves or vandals. Prior to internment, all graves must be located/marked by

Tommy Brock or his assignee. No grave shall be marked with a Vault Lid. Graves shall be flat rather than mounded. Mausoleums shall be erected in the designated area. Floral and other memorial tributes are to be removed by the family within 2 weeks of internment. Each grave shall have a permanent marker with the name of the deceased. Footstones are to be at ground level. No non-human remains may be buried here. A one-time Maintenance Fee of $200 per burial site is requested to aid with future maintenance. This may be paid in advance and in installments, receipts will be distributed, and all funds will be accounted for. For maintenance and safety, the following are prohibited: fences, hedges, ditches, statues, figurines, permanent plants and trees, rocks, marbles, pebbles, glass vases, toys, lights and brick. Flowers shall be placed in front and as close as possible to the monument. Flowers shall be removed when faded or out of season. Empty plastic vases are to be removed. Winter arrangements shall be removed by April 1st of each year. The Committee reserves the right to remove damaged, faded or out of season arrangements. No debris shall be put in the woods, as this is not cemetery property. Volunteer cemetery clean-up will be the 1st Thursday of the following months at 7 pm during April - September, 6 pm in October, and other times as needed. Committee Members:
Tommy Brock, Lynwood Herring, Albert Knowles, Rachel Crumpler, Kevin Herring, Sandra Brock, Glen Brock, Sarah Southerland, Lee Ann Stroud, Marie Wiggins, Joe Holmes, and Vickie Baker

Dear Pate Cemetery friends,

NO MEETING as a group this evening (1st Thursday, November 6) for group clean-up.

If there is anything that you know needs to be done and you can do it, please go when you can.

Otherwise let's consider meeting as a group SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2025, at NOON.
Bring your outdoor equipment/tools so we can work on limbs, leaves, and all the other general things we need to do.

Thank you for your continued support.

Update: as of 3:30 Thursday, September 4, the cemetery work has been done! There are some flowers that still need changing out, but hopefully the families will take care of that soon. Thank you to everyone that worked so hard today!

I don't have my pretty web page helper anymore. Today is the first Thursday of the month. A few people are out there now at 2:00. The scheduled time is around 6:30. The cemetery looks terrible! Come and do what you can.

I have been slack posting information, and I apologize. Reminding everyone that clean-up is scheduled for Thursday, May 2, at 7. For sure some folks will be there at 6, ready to work. April 1 was the Fall and Winter arrangement removal deadline. Empty vases and flag holders need to be removed also. Some areas have 2 or 3 empty flag holders. Please take these home with you until you are ready to place a new flag out there. Thank you to all the volunteers that keep coming back and clean up for everyone there, not just their immediate family members. Do as much as you can, when you can. Thank you

I missed putting out November's clean up notice. Just want to remind everyone to come by when you can. Leaves are falling. Spring flowers need removing. Tattered flags, empty flag poles....well, you get it. Come when you can. Do what you can. Thank you for helping take care of our family's final resting space.
Today...thank a VETERAN.
