First Baptist Church Family,

Words cannot fully express how proud we are of each of you. Today, you truly showed up and showed out in love for our beloved Sis. Val and her family.

From the ladies who stepped forward to prepare a beautiful luncheon, to our Media Booth Ministry…who returned from out of town this morning and immediately began preparing the screen, music, and livestream so that family members in New York could share in the service…every act of kindness mattered.

You did not simply fill positions or complete tasks. You saw a family who needed to be loved, and you came together as one body to make sure they felt surrounded, supported, and cared for. You also made certain that our own church family had the opportunity to gather, comfort one another, and celebrate the life of our dear sister.

Watching everyone pull together and go above and beyond caused both of our hearts to overflow. You continuously demonstrate what it means to put family first…not only through the words we speak, but through the love we show.

We are so blessed to pastor a family-oriented church and to be connected to a community that genuinely cares for one another. Thank you for serving with willing hands, compassionate hearts, and such a beautiful spirit of unity.

Today, you showed the Hooks family—and everyone watching—what the love of God looks like in action.

It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Sis. Valerie Hooks, who transitioned from this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Sis. Valarie was a precious part of our First Baptist Church family, and her gentle spirit and presence will truly be missed.

This Sunday, August 23, we will pause during our regular morning worship service to lovingly remember and honor her life. This memorial tribute will be incorporated into the service as we worship together, reflect upon her life, and surround her family with our love and prayers.

We ask that you continue to keep the family of Sis. Valarie Hooks lifted in prayer during this time.
