Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12‬:‭3‬ ‭

Have you ever received a 10 in an event scored by judges? It means you can’t get any better. God uses the number 10 in the Bible 242 times to tell us that if we believe in Him, life can’t get any better.

He gave Moses 10 Commandments. In the first chapter of the Bible, the words God said appear 10 times! God is saying, “This world is my creation. It is so good; I can’t make it any better!”

God delivered His people from slavery in Egypt with 10 plagues. His rescue mission was so successful that it couldn’t have gotten any better. Do you know what the 10th plague was? Since God’s people were spared from this plague of death, they celebrated the Passover, where everyone who believed in God celebrated a special meal featuring lamb.

Guess what day of the month God told them to eat this sacrificial lamb and use its blood to mark their homes as belonging to Him—saving them from slavery and death? “On the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family” (Exodus 12:3).

Those Passover lambs pictured the complete rescue and salvation for all sinners through Jesus Christ.

The Bible book of Revelation uses the number 10 to emphasize the absolute authority and victory of Jesus Christ over our enemies—for a completely unending period of time.

Can all these 10s from God move you to give Him a 10th of your income?

Life from God can’t get any better! Live it to the max!

Be Blessed!

If You really want to do what God would do!

Be the one who stays when everybody else walks away.

Be the one who forgives, even when it's undeserved.

Be the one to show grace when everyone else is casting stones.

Be the one to show love, even when they hurt You.

Because that's what God does…

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭12‬ ‭

As a kid my father would have things such as a small fishing boat, a tub or a tire in the backyard that wasn’t used much.

Whenever it was flipped it over, all kinds of creepy-crawly bugs were underneath. Gross! You never noticed all the yuck until it was flipped and let the light of day shine in the dark spaces.

Aren’t there times in our lives ... maybe even years at a time ... when we think we’re doing fine? We’re holding tight. We’re steady as a rock. We have not and will not be moved! But without realizing it, we’ve hunkered down in the wrong places. We’ve become stagnant by not moving. Our spiritual lives have lagged. And we might think we’re fine, but if we let in a little light ... Ohh! The creepy-crawlies go skittering for cover. Yikes!

God’s Word has a way of “flipping our lives” and exposing everything that needs looking at.

You might think all is well, and maybe it is! But it also might be time for action. It might be time to evaluate your spiritual life or take a look at any pet sins that may have gotten tucked into the darkness as you sit tight, thinking they’ll go unnoticed.

Flip it over! Get into God’s Word.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).

Be Blessed!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 30–40 percent of Americans receive an inheritance. For one-third of you, some riches (a chunk of money, the family cabin) are on the way.

But don’t get down if that’s not you, because 100 percent of born-again believers are even richer. Earlier in his letter, Peter wrote, “[God] has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:3–4).

Because of Jesus, there is a place prepared for you, a spot where there is no suffering or wondering, no regretting or repenting, no holding your breath, no hoping things work out, no missing him or her, no missing out. It’s a place where your face would hurt from the laughter (if it was possible to hurt in heaven); a life where everything is right, and nothing will ever go wrong; the moment when you know you’ll never have to worry again or apologize again or try and fail again; a place where you see the face of God. Those born into an earthly inheritance will spend their money all too quickly. But the born again will enjoy their inheritance forever.

Child of God, if life has got you down, reread Peter’s words, and remember the inheritance that nothing and no one can touch, the riches kept in heaven for you!

Be Blessed!

as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬ ‭

When you were born, you likely had lots of resources to help you grow—diapers, food, a roof over your head, and more cute onesies than you were capable of wearing. Add to that people to feed, rock, hold, and teach you. How many resources did you have at your disposal during those essential years?

Being born again is the same. Your Father has given you resources to help you pursue your purpose. Peter writes, “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:2). Want to grow? Then crave the “pure spiritual milk” of the Bible.

One of the best parts about being a 21st-century born-again believer is that we live in one of the most resource-rich generations in history. We have Bibles, Christian books, YouTube videos, sermon podcasts, worship music on the radio, and so much more. It would take you years just to explore all the resources that Time of Grace has created to help you! If you are craving God’s Word, you can get it free of charge.

Growing up as a child of God is a challenge. Thankfully, our Father wants to help. Not only did He send Jesus to save you. Not only did His Spirit give you new life. But God has filled your life with spiritual resources so you can get spiritually bigger and stronger than ever before.

Be Blessed!

as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬ ‭

When you were born, you had a clear purpose—to grow up. If you are 35 and still sipping on a bottle of warm milk while watching Cocomelon, you should probably talk to someone, because the purpose of your birth was not just to be born but rather to grow, mature, and become independent.

The same is true with being born again. When the Word of God changed your heart and brought you into God’s family, you were also given a clear purpose. Not just to sit around and wait for heaven but to grow up in your faith. Peter writes, “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:2).

Growing up as a child of God means an increasing awareness and gratitude for Jesus’ forgiveness (we never grow out of the gospel!), a better ability to do the right thing even when our parents (or pastor) aren’t watching, and a stronger grasp of God’s Word, which saves us from the bad influences of this world.

Want to know God’s purpose for your life? We all do. But we don’t have to guess or wait for a whisper. Grab the Bible with the passion of a hungry baby, and you will find plenty of ways to grow up in your salvation.

Be Blessed!

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ‭

When I was in college, we played against a soccer team way up in Duluth, Minnesota. One year we took the four-hour bus ride from my college town to Duluth only to get demolished in front of zero of our fans. It was too far from home for them to travel. Actually, there was one fan. I didn’t see him until the game had already started. It was my dad. He had driven five hours from Green Bay to Duluth and was about to drive five hours back after watching me play an hour and a half of soccer. That’s a lot of driving to see some not-so-good soccer. Why did my dad do it? Because I was born into a family of love.

If you have been born again, you were too. Every Christian has a Father in heaven who is bursting with love for all His children. Your life may be as unimpressive as my performance that day in Duluth, but your Father still shows up to see you, support you, and be with you. And Jesus has promised that He will never leave you nor forsake you. The Holy Spirit has made your body His temple, the place where He lives to guide you through life.

How sweet it is to be born again! “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” (1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Be Blessed!

being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭23‬ ‭

What’s the process that makes a baby? If you don’t know, you should probably ask the apostle Peter and a Pharisee named Nicodemus. In their conversations about being born again, they use phrases like “perishable seed,” a reference to male s***m, and “a mother’s womb,” where a fertilized egg grows. S***m plus egg is the proven process that leads to physical birth, a stunning sequence of evidence that we wouldn’t believe unless we had seen it.

God’s Word plus a human heart is the process that can lead to another stunning result—being born again. Peter writes, “You have been born again … through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23). When the living Word of God hits our hearts, miracles can happen. Repentance can replace stubbornness. Faith in Jesus can drive out self-righteousness.

So embrace the process! If a couple wanted a baby, they wouldn’t just pray. They would … you know … embrace the process. Similarly, if you want someone to be born again, embrace the process. Don’t just pray that your kid or your friend becomes a believer. Find a way to share the Word with them: “Hey, I heard this sermon and thought of you.” “I know you’re not super into church, but I’d love for you to come with me and give church a second chance.”

It’s amazing what seed and egg can create. Even more amazing is what the Word can do when it gets to your heart.

Be Blessed!

and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬ ‭

Have you heard of a “born again Christian”? Do you know what born again means? After studying the appearances of that phrase in God’s Word—twice from Jesus and once from Peter—I can think of six connections between being born physically and being born again spiritually, the first—evidence of life.

When you were born, there was evidence of life. Heartbeat. Brain waves. Breathing lungs. If you have been born again (when you became a Christian), there is evidence of spiritual life, namely, repentance and faith. Your heart beats with repentance (no true Christian can live in sin) and looks to Jesus for salvation (no true Christian looks to themselves to be saved). This is why Jesus summarized Christianity by saying, “Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15). Everyone who repents and believes has evidence that they are a born-again member of God’s family.

But please don’t confuse strength with life. A baby is not strong, but it’s still alive. And you might not be strong in your faith or as mature as other Christians, but you’re alive. Some of us doubt our place in God’s family because we feel weak or struggle with the same sin year after year, but that doesn’t deny the evidence of true faith. I pray your faith gets bigger and stronger, but even God’s littlest kids have life.

Do you regret your sin? Do you believe Jesus died for you too? Then take heart! You have been born again!
