“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” – Hebrews 11:1
Genuine faith is more valuable and precious than all the gold in the world! True faith puts its letter in the mailbox and lets it go. Distrust, however, holds onto a corner of the envelope and then wonders why the answer never arrives. I could write an encouraging letter to a friend, decorate the envelope, address it, put the stamp on it, but then leave it on my desk and neglect to mail it. (perhaps some hesitation dwells on how it will be taken on the receiving end…..) That letter will do nothing except collect dust, and never will accomplish anything until I let GO of it, trusting it to the postal service! My friend, it is the same with genuine faith. It hands its circumstances over to God, allowing Him to work. I love Psalm 37:5, it lays out all the steps: “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He WILL do this.” The first step is ours; God will never work until we COMMIT. Faith is receiving, or even more, appropriating (claiming) the gifts and promises that God offers us. We may believe in Him, come to Him, commit our lives to Him, and rest in Him, but we will miss out on all He has for us and never realize all of the blessings that are ours to claim until we step in faith (“mail the letter”) and claim them! This is a letter that was written by a faithful friend to an elderly woman who was extremely worried about the condition of her son. Listen to his words. “You are worrying too much about him. Once you have prayed for him, as you have done, and committed him to God, you should not continue to be anxious. God’s command, “Do not be anxious about anything” (Philippians 4:6) is unlimited, and so is the verse, “Cast all your anxiety on Him” 1 Peter 5:7). If we truly have cast our burdens upon another, can they continue to pressure us? If we carry them with us from the throne of grace, it is obvious we have not left them there. In my own life I test my prayers in this way: after committing something to God, if I can come away, like Hannah did (1 Samuel 1), with no more sadness, pain, or anxiety in my heart, (even if the circumstances haven’t changed around me), I see it as proof that I have prayed in faith. But if I pray and then still come away carrying my burden, I conclude my faith was not exercised.”
Don’t hold the corner of the envelope – mail the letter! Remember Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday.”

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things (THINK ABOUT) which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. SET YOUR MIND on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who IS OUR life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” – Colossians 3:1-4
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house, there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may also be.” – John 14:1-3

Feeling anxious, heavy hearted, or stressed with all that is going on, both in your personal life and with all that is going on around us? Dear believer, take heart and look up! “I look up to the mountains, where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth! He will NOT let you stumble; the One who watches over you will not slumber!” (Psalm 121) It may be time for you to reset your mind. Remember Who you belong to, and where your TRUE citizenship is – not in this world! Examine how hard you are gripping to this world, this nation and loosen your hold on it. Take a breath and let His peace fill you. Let your mind dwell continually on the fact that He has everything under control and He doesn’t need your help. He just needs you to trust Him. Things are not falling apart, they are falling exactly into place, just as He shows us in His Word that they would. Our home is not here, so He does not want us to get comfortable. In God’s own words in Isaiah 66:1, He sums it up perfectly. “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” Yes! Please keep your sights on the right perspective, my friend! We are living in a footstool world. The earth is just a footstool; it is NOT our home, so we are not to make it so! You don’t sit on a footstool, you just place your feet ON IT; the problems, uncertain times, rapidly increasing evil, wrong is right and right is wrong world that we live in, ALL of this is temporary and part of God’s prophetic plan. Remember where your citizenship is, Christian! Set your mind and your thoughts with Jesus, and don’t let the headlines or happenings here sway you, and don’t let any of it diminish your light or steal your joy. Sharing His love and light that is within us is the ONLY REASON why we are still here!!! (So be careful and make sure that your words, thoughts and social media posts are reflecting that!) Hold tight to His hand, and keep your mind fixed and anchored on His promises, which will give you strength and hope stronger than anything! You have the hope that this world needs - Jesus! “I love the Lord because He hears my voice, and my prayer for mercy. Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” – (Psalm 116:1)

Romans 15

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good! His faithful love endures forever. Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others He has redeemed you from your enemies.” Psalm 107:1-2
Wow, how God speaks directly into our hearts here! “Have I redeemed you? Then let your thoughts and words be marinated in thankfulness and praise!” God has done SO MUCH for us! Marinate your mind in Psalm 103 for a short list of 25! You see, a powerful transformation happens when we do. What we dwell on is what comes out of us. Our minds are like a sponge, and what kind of “liquid” (thoughts) we absorb will affect what comes out of us. So, if we begin our day with thoughts that are rushed, tainted with dread, heavy loads from the day before, aggravation and anger towards other people’s actions, imbedded guilt, anxiety from anything at all, stress, fear of what might happen, (and this is small list), well, our sponge minds will be absorbing from the bucket of toxic water, and it will squeeze out in ever thought, word and action that comes out of us. We’ve all been there, and it can be so easy for us to fall here. But when you truly grab ahold of our AWESOME LOVING FATHER, who is TRUTH, and hear what He is saying to you, you will realize that the bucket of toxic liquid doesn’t belong to you if you have chosen Christ to be your redeemer! Your toxic water has been made pure and clean! Choosing to allow negative thoughts is like choosing to find the toxic water to soak your sponge into and squeezing it back into your life. You have to ask yourself, “Why am I taking back what He has already taken care of for me?” Thank you, Jesus, for showing me the way – I choose to soak in the pure water of everlasting life; thoughts of thankfulness and praise for You, thankfulness for being made whole, for filling my life with GOOD things, (name them), for your compassion towards me, for the air of life you give me, for your promises that keep me going. Make your list your mantra and speak it! A truly joyful and purely powerful life is found only when we willingly CHOOSE to surrender our thinking arenas and hearts to Jesus. You will be absolutely amazed at how it will truly change your life! Call on the name of Jesus!

“Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7
“For the Lord does not see as man sees; for the man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
“Do I even matter?” My friend, if you entered into this day pondering that thought, I would like to reach out to you with a BIG hug, look into your eyes, and tell you that you ABSOLUTELY DO! You matter because you matter to God, the One who made you with His own hands. You are one of a kind, and He does NOT make mistakes! You are of INFINITE value! You are PRICELESS and PRECIOUS. All of the money put together couldn’t even begin to measure your worth. Take in what Jesus says to you on this. “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you WILL know the truth, and the truth WILL set you free.” (John 8:31-32, emphasis mine) Write that in your favorite color and tape it to your nightstand and refrigerator and paste it to the front of your mind. In Luke 12:6, Jesus is speaking into the hearts of His disciples. “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God.” One penny would buy two sparrows. Two pennies, however, would buy five. The seller threw in the fifth sparrow for free. In other words, that fifth sparrow isn’t worth much! This world has its share of fifth sparrows; people who feel lost, alone, useless, not needed, forgotten, dejected, worth little, misunderstood, unworthy. Today is the day to deal with the fear of not mattering FOR GOOD! Why does God love you so much? You are His idea, and God has only good ideas. “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10) God has a good plan for you today! Shine bright wherever He places you. You will never EVER walk alone!

“You are my King and my God. You command victories for Israel. ONLY by Your power can we push back our enemies; ONLY in Your Name can we trample our foes. I do not trust in my bow; I do not count on my sword to save me. You are the One who gives us victory over our enemies.” – Psalm 44:4-7

Have you ever watched a professional boxer? They train, workout, and strengthen themselves in all areas before a match. When the day comes, they are prepared, drawing on their own resources for battle. No one else is in in the ring with him. We prepare for battles too – spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. Our Kingdom (God’s) is in battle with the kingdoms of this world, and we are on the frontlines. (whether you realize it or not, most of your battles are spiritual ones!) Of course we need to equip ourselves, like the boxer. But there is one big difference – we CANNOT rely on ourselves! Our own resources are not enough. We need help from power that is beyond ourselves! The ring is in our daily places – in our homes, workplaces, playing fields, PTA meetings, church, social circles, and everyday situations. So what is our strategy? The key is learning how to REST! Not in a lazyboy, but in God’s hands. We realize that our own strength is not sufficient and lean completely on God’s. We fight HIS battles in His wisdom and His strength. Even though we are on the frontlines, it is not our battle. We are representatives of the Lord. It’s important to remember that He will provide you with exactly the resources in balance with what you are depending on. If we are depending on ourselves, then we fight on our own strength. (which is never enough and doesn’t work) If we are looking and depending on Him, then He is fighting for you. The choice is always yours to make. What you experience will always depend on who and what you are relying on! It’s when we realize our weakness, declare them, and fully trust and depend on our mighty Lord that we truly see the victory! Have you declared Jesus as your source of strength? If not, then it may just be time to change your strategy! Choose to live with a victory mentality (not a victim mentality) regardless of how things appear. Claim success by crowning Jesus Lord over every situation. As followers of Christ, we cannot afford to be defeated in our outlook. God speaks the language of victories, not defeats. At times our faith will be challenged, and sometimes things will seem hopeless. But nothing is lost in the Kingdom of God for He promises us that “All things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purposes.” (Romans 8:28). That is way more than a blue ribbon – that’s ultimate success! My friend, assume victory in EVERY battle you face, refuse to let your faith falter, and wait for God to come through, because He ALWAYS does. He commands victories for His people!
“Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.” – Psalm 20:7
