The Word is kind of like grammar. You can hear all about it, but never learn how to use it.

Scripture was never meant to be something we hear on Sunday morning, nod along to, and leave behind in the pew.

Each week at Grace, Rev. Steve uses his homilies to bring Scripture into the world we’re actually living in. He helps us look beyond simply what the Bible says to consider what it means, why it matters, and what following Christ looks like in our relationships, our communities, our choices, and our everyday lives.

Because knowing the Word and living the Word are two different things.

Jesus didn’t call us simply to listen. He called us to follow.

“But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.”
James 1:22

So, no, we can’t help you with your commas (although someone in the congregation might!).

But if you’re looking for a place to dig a little deeper into Scripture, ask questions, grow in your faith, and learn how to carry the Word beyond Sunday morning, we’d love to have you at Grace.

If these walls could talk, they would have more than 150 years of stories to tell.

Grace Episcopal Church’s story in Mount Clemens began in 1849, when the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan sent the Reverend Edward Magee to the community as a missionary. His visit planted the seeds for what would become Grace Episcopal Church, formally organized the following year.

In December 1850, Michigan’s first Episcopal bishop, the Right Reverend Samuel McCoskry, conducted services for the new congregation in the local courthouse. Six people were confirmed, and Edward Magee was ordained.

Twenty years later, in 1870, the Gothic Revival church that still stands on South Main Street today was built.

For more than a century and a half, generations have passed through these doors. They have gathered here to worship, pray, celebrate, grieve, serve their neighbors, raise their families, and seek God together.

In 1975, Grace Episcopal Church was officially designated a Michigan State Historic Site, recognizing a history that has been intertwined with the history of Mount Clemens itself.

We are grateful for those who came before us, for those who call Grace home today, and for all those who have yet to walk through our doors.

The building is historic. The story is still being written. All are welcome at Grace, and there is always room for you here. In our church, our congregation, and in our ever-growing history.

What does it look like to “fight the good fight” in our own community?

Sometimes, it looks remarkably ordinary.

It looks like serving a meal. Stocking a pantry. Donating what we have. Giving a few hours of our time to make someone else’s week a little easier.

At Grace, our outreach ministries offer opportunities throughout the year to put our faith into action.

From November through March, join us for Community Supper at the church on Sundays at 4:00 PM.

We offer a curbside Food Pantry on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

In October, we will begin packing for the 2026–2027 school year of Fueling Kids’ Futures. Packing takes place Tuesdays at 11:30 AM at Oakley Industries, Inc., Plant 4.

All of our outreach ministries welcome volunteers, financial donations, and food and clothing donations.

As followers of Christ, we are called to recognize the dignity of every person and to care for one another with compassion and generosity.

Scripture reminds us that caring for our neighbors is not simply an act of charity; it is an act of faithfulness.

May we continue to seek opportunities to love as Christ loves, to serve without expectation, and to be faithful stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to us.

Our friends at Hearts for Homes are hosting their annual Hearts “FORE” Homes Golf Outing this Friday, June 26, at Cracklewood Golf Club.

Enjoy a day of golf, games, raffles, dinner, and community support. Not a golfer? No worries! A dinner-only option is available, and raffle tickets may also be purchased separately.

We are grateful for opportunities to support organizations doing meaningful work in our community and are happy to share this event with you.
