Good afternoon, the days feel like they’re getting shorter lately. Either that, or northwest Illinois has secretly sped up the clock on all of us. It seems like every time we turn around, another day has slipped by and the to‑do list is still sitting there, staring back at us.

But even in the rush, there’s something grounding about pausing for worship together. Tomorrow morning, Pastor Bob will lead us as we continue through the book of Matthew, and there’s always something in those passages that slows the heart down, even when the schedule refuses to cooperate.

We’d love for you to join with us — in person if you can, or online if time gets away again. May the evening be restful and tomorrow be filled with grace.
We will be live on Zoom, Facebook Live and Youtube@firstlutheranmc

God Bless one and all and we will see you in the morning.

Writing to the church in Rome, Paul makes clear that Christians should attend in love to each other and work to alleviate the sufferings of others.

Peter’s response to Jesus’ question, “Who do you say that I am?”, stands as one of the most powerful confessions in Scripture. While the crowds offered guesses—prophet, teacher, miracle‑worker—Peter spoke with Spirit‑given clarity: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” In that moment, he recognized Jesus not as one voice among many, but as the One sent from God to save, redeem, and restore. Peter’s confession reminds us that faith is deeply personal; it calls each of us to answer that same question in our own hearts.
