A photo taken today from the 6th Street side door looking towards the choir loft. Most of the interior items are gone with the exception of the rose window between the towers.

After the church closed most of its interior fittings were dismantled and spread across the country. Stained glass windows, altars, bells, and the statuary were removed. To date we only know the whereabouts of two items:

The elaborate Baldachin that graced the main altar was installed in St. Joseph’s Church in Shreveport, Louisiana although without the beautiful mosaics that were once there. https://www.stjosephchurch.net

One of the bells was installed in St. Joseph’s Church York, PA https://www.sjy.org

It would be wonderful to know where the statues, stained glass, and altars wound up.

I don’t know if I ever shared this story with you about a pastor who was always looking for a way to get his parishioner’s attention on any given subject. One week he decided to have a huge sign printed which he placed over the entrance of the Church. It read, “THROUGH THESE DOORS WALK SOM.....
