We are looking forward to welcoming the Galvin Cello Quartet to the 2026 Abbey Bach Festival on Friday, July 31, at 8 pm.

Their concert, “From the Opera House to the Salon,” will feature audience favorites such as overtures of Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and Strauss’ Fledermaus with contrasting inward voices of Schumann’s character pieces and Wagner’s solemn music.

Tom Kloucek was a blessing for Mount Angel Seminary and his brother seminarians, especially in the propaedeutic cohort, from the day he first arrived at Mount Angel in summer 2025.

The Hilltop community mourns his passing and prays for his eternal rest in the peace of Christ.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our seminarian Tom Kloucek, who passed away unexpectedly following medical complications.

We are thankful that Tom spent 5 days on retreat with his brother seminarians just prior to his passing and we are thankful for that time of prayer and fraternity that they shared together.

Tom was a man of great faith who loved Jesus Christ and the Church. In reflecting on his vocation, he once wrote:

“Praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament was where I finally understood Jesus’ sacrifice of Himself at the crucifixion… He died on the cross for you and for me. Jesus loves me.”

Those who knew Tom encountered in him a sincere love for the Lord, a thoughtful and searching faith, and a genuine desire to give his life in service to the Church as a priest.

Please join us in praying for the repose of Tom’s soul, for his family and loved ones, his brother seminarians, and all who mourn his passing.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.

We give thanks to God for Mount Angel Seminary’s Class of 2026! On Saturday, May 9, the 137th Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises honored these graduates and all they have accomplished here in this school of the Lord’s service.

We express our deep gratitude for the Most Reverend Frank Schuster, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Seattle, for celebrating the Baccalaureate Mass and giving the Commencement Address, reminding our graduates that “joy is a grace from God and, fundamentally, a choice.”

As we move toward the close of the Easter season and the Feast of Pentecost, Abbot Jeremy Driscoll, O.S.B, joins Hilltop Hangouts once again to share insight on this important time in the Church year.

He reflects on how Christians are called each year to a deeper understanding of the Resurrection and our living witness to it, as well as important hallmarks of the Easter season, the meaning of the word “Paschal,” and the transformational effect of the Holy Spirit on our hearts.
