☀️H.O.T!☀️
We all know it's HOT, but do you know that can be dangerous to you if you're not careful? Here's just a few tips to stay safe in the extreme heat. 🥵
🥶Stay cool🥶
Stay in an air-conditioned space or go to a cooling center if your home doesn't have air conditioning. You can also take cool showers or baths, use a fan, or spritz yourself with cold water. Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing that reflects heat and sunlight, like cotton, and try to keep your skin wet.
🫗Stay hydrated🫗
Drink plenty of water before you feel thirsty, especially if you're outdoors or active. Avoid sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic drinks.
⛱Stay in the shade⛱
If you must be outside, try to limit your exposure to the sun and find shady areas to rest. You can also use a wide-brimmed hat or umbrella for protection.
🪑Limit activity🪑
Avoid strenuous activities or working outdoors during the hottest part of the day. If you do need to be outside, try to schedule tasks earlier or later in the day.
🧘♀️Take breaks🧘
If you're active, take frequent breaks to rehydrate.
👫Check on others👫
Keep an eye on family members, older adults, and neighbors, and watch for signs of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or heat stroke.
🐕Consider pets🐈
Don't leave pets outside for long periods of time, and if you do take them out, avoid walking on pavement if the temperature is above 85°F.
