Cross of Glory Lutheran Church

Cross of Glory Lutheran Church Cross of Glory Lutheran Church's mission is to connect people to Jesus Christ and to each other. Our third church building was dedicated on February 9, 1986.

Our church provides a fresh take on orthodoxy and social ministry which sets us apart. Cross of Glory Lutheran Church was established in 1955, when a house chapel was built at 5472 Adams Street in Mounds View. That remained our place of worship until 1964 when a church (including Fellowship Hall, office space, and nursery) were built on the adjoining grounds at the corner of County Road I and Adam

s Street. The original house chapel then became our Sunday School building and a place where wedding receptions and other large functions were also held. A larger sanctuary, new kitchen, and narthex were added to the existing building which then became a large fellowship hall and Sunday School rooms. The original house chapel was sold. Another large addition was dedicated on September 7, 1997. It included a choir room, youth room, pastor's office, secretary's office, Sunday School rooms and another main entrance

We have been led by twelve pastors during our 50 year presence in the Mounds View neighborhood. In May 2019, Rev. Cassie Nault was issued a call to serve as our new shepherd and continues to lead us today.

Well, we didn't get to photos soon enough but we still celebrated our graduates last Sunday! Here's Deb, a proud mom, with one of her twin graduates, Tristan. And the cake was cut before the photo was taken. 😂 Oh well, it sure was good! We have to be quicker with camera! 🤣

Though the word trinity is not found in the scriptures, todayç—´ second reading includes the apostolic greeting that begins the liturgy: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In the gospel Jesus sends his disciples forth to baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. More than a doctrine, the Trinity expresses the heart of our faith: we have experienced the God of creation made known in Jesus Christ and with us always through the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity in word and sacrament, as we profess the creed, and as we are sent into the world to bear witness to our faith.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage, service, and selflessness will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who gave everything for our country. Because of them, we are free.

Pentecost derives its name from the Jewish festival celebrating the harvest and the giving of the law on Mount Sinai fifty days after Passover. Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the Holy Spirit as Godç—´ presence within and among us. In Acts the Spirit arrives in rushing wind and flame, bringing Godç—´ presence to all people. Paul reminds us that though we each have different capacities, we are unified in the Spirit that equips us with these gifts. Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit on his disciples, empowering them to forgive sin. We celebrate that we too are given the breath of the Holy Spirit and sent out to proclaim Godç—´ redeeming love to all the world.

In these days between Ascension and Pentecost, we gather with the disciples in the upper room, waiting for the Spirit to transform the church around the world. In todayç—´ gospel Jesus prays for his followers and for their mission in his name. Amid religious, social, and economic divisions, we seek the unity that Jesus had with his Father. Made one in baptism, we go forth to live our faith in the world, eager for the unity that God intends for the whole human family.
