Sunday's Sermon Summary
The message was not what I thought it would be. The Holy Spirit turns things on a dime... Instead of 1 Corinthians 15, we read Galatians 4:1-7. We discussed our unalienable rights through Christ.
On the Fourth of July, my family and I attended a wonderful Independence Day Parade. Each float represented a group expressing what they believed and supported. Towards the end, we saw boisterous members of the Democratic Party shouting "this is what democracy looks like" wielding posters reflecting what they believe, that we have the right to peacefully protest (yes we do); that "Hate separates" (totally agree) and right next to that, "Trump is a turd" (isn't that Hate speech?🤔), then we saw members of the Republican Party, no posters, no shouting, just quietly marching with their banner demonstrating in starch contrast, the honor due our Forefathers in celebration of our nations birthday. My point is, that is their right! In this great country of ours, we have certain unalienable rights no one can take from us: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Choice, Freedom to Bear Arms, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Choice... We can stand on our Constitutional Rights in a Court of Law and usually, win! We have these rights because of our Forefathers who came together "in order to form a more perfect union". We have been given the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, rights that are unalienable under God.
It has become quite ugly in recent months and in the name of democracy, people are breaking laws left and right, destroying personal and government property, committing violent acts, even murder, and crying "it's my right" all the while blinded to the fact that they are going against the rights of their neighbors. But, as Christ Followers, there is a better way. While Human Rights can indeed be stolen, the rights we have under God no one can take from us.
Here are three listed below pulled from Galatians 4:
The Right of Protection: we are safely held by our Guardian Redeemer (Jesus). Yes, we will go through trials in this life, but, if we remain in Him to the end, we can trust the Lord to keep us for the next.
The Right to Knowledge and to be Loved: We have the right to be known by and to know our God in spite of ourselves, all we've done and will do, He knows it all. The King of the Universe truly loves you and me. He desires us to come into His presence.... What a wonder.... Who am I?
The Right to Riches Beyond Compare: How wonderful it is that the God of All Creation, the Maker of the universe, the galaxy our planet is in, the earth which the Spirit still hovers over, the Sea and all life teaming beneath its waves, and above on the land and in the skies... Oh yes, this Big Almighty, All Powerful, All Knowing, All Present God loves us so much that He gave us access to Himself through Christ His Son. How blessed are we that we have been given, as co-heirs with Christ, everything in Creation. Nothing will be withheld. But the best Treasure of all, the One beyond all comparison, the One with value that cannot be measured, is Jesus our Messiah Himself. Imagine, if you can, that we get to spend all eternity together with Him. Not because of anything we have done, we can't earn it and don't deserve it. Yet by Grace through Faith because God so loved... that He gave...therefore, we will indeed be with Him ... Praise God He gave us these rights. I pray that you hunger and thirst for Him as I do. That you walk not in the footsteps of this wicked generation, but in the Path of the Almighty... 🙏
May you be blessed and know you are loved 🛐
