Today (May 31) Skinquarter Baptist Church issued a unanimous call to Pastor Brandon Witmyer to become our next full-time pastor! He will officially begin June 9 and his first sermon as pastor will be June 14. We also welcome his wife Larkin and children Charis and Jonah. He has been serving as Youth Pastor, then Family and Children’s Pastor at Midlothian Baptist Church for 9 years, and has both Bachelor’s and Master’s (M.Div.) degrees from Liberty University. We encourage members, attendees and guests to give him a big welcome to our church! A link to this morning sermon will follow later.

Our Outreach and Fellowship Dinner is tonight at 6:30 PM and is open to everyone! We encourage you to invite family, friends, and neighbors to join us this evening in the Fellowship Hall for food, fellowship and a program. The main dish provided will be meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Our folks are asked to bring a side dish or a dessert. Guests need not bring anything but an appetite!

Worship with us Easter Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! We will have a Sunrise Service at 6:30 AM in the Sanctuary. Mark Mills will sing a special song and Ray Trainham will bring the message. A light breakfast will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Then we will have Sunday School at 9:45, followed by our Worship Service at 11 AM. Our choir will sing two songs with narration (“Written in Red” & “No More Night”). Then Pastor Steve will preach from Mark 16:1-4, "Who Moved the Stone?” Bring you family and other guests for this special day!

This Sunday is Palm Sunday. In the 11 AM service our choir will sing a dramatic song about the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, introduced with narration. Then pastor Steve will preach a message from Luke 19 regarding the triumphal entry. That will be followed by an observance of the Lord’s supper. Join us for worship this Sunday!

As you can see from this photo from Saturday afternoon, the south parking lot and sidewalks are in pretty good shape. So if you can safely get to church, we encourage you to attend. Just watch your step all along the way and avoid any icy patches. If you do not feel comfortable getting out, you will be able to watch the sermon online later, and perhaps much of the service as well.

We do plan to have Sunday School and the 11 AM service tomorrow. Thanks to the labor of at least 6 men, the parking lot is mostly clear and should be safe to walk on as long as you watch your step and avoid any remaining ice. Most parking spaces are on the south side of the church building, with 5 available on the north side. Do NOT come unless you feel safe enough to do so based on conditions at your house and neighborhood. A link to the sermon will be available by late afternoon, especially for those who stay home, and perhaps an edited video of the entire service will be available. Pastor Steve will preach, “The Creation of Man and Woman” from Genesis 1-2. (Pictures are from 3:30 PM Saturday before they were finished).
