"Think about the past and consider the sacrifices men and women in the military have made for us.” — G. Wetzel
On May 30 1868, Decoration Day was observed to decorate the graves of Union troops across the nation after the Civil War. From this beginning, Memorial Day is now designated as an annual day of remembrance to honor all those who have died in service to the United States during peace and war.
May we pray and understand the connection between earthly freedom and the gospel, recognizing that just as civil liberties were preserved by blood, spiritual freedom came at the cost of Christ’s blood.
May we remember and pray for the brave men and women currently serving, their families, and the nation, while giving thanks for the freedom to worship and live in freedom.
John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."
