We skip this question because the answer feels obvious. 

But Jesus asked it because wanting to change and being ready to change are two completely different things. 

For 38 years this man had been a beggar. People brought him food. People felt sorry for him. He was known for his condition. 

If he got well, all of that disappeared — he would have to get up, find work, take responsibility for himself. 
Getting well wasn’t just about his legs. It meant his whole life changing. 

And sometimes the thing keeping us stuck isn’t that we can’t move forward. It’s that part of us is comfortable staying put.
