The deacons wish to thank everyone who gave for the success of their annual backpack drive. Through your generous contributions, along with the Newtown Quilters Guild, a total of seventy-four backpacks were donated, with plenty of extra supplies as well. The Ivins Outreach Center sends their gratitude for everything received and will distribute them to local students to help get them started on the new school year.

We welcome the Rev. Kyle Anderson to our MPC family! Rev. Anderson was elected to serve as the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff on July 26 by the congregation. "As we continue discerning God's call together, I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with a congregation so deeply rooted in God's grace and so eager to bear witness to Christ's love in and for the world," Rev. Anderson wrote. He added, he is looking forward to "getting to know each of you in the days and weeks ahead." Rev. Anderson starts at MPC on Monday, August 31.

To celebrate, an all-church picnic was held in the Memorial Garden where members were able to spend fellowship time with one another and with Rev. Anderson and his family.
