Good Morning, this is Thursday, June 18.

Today's verse comes from Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 4 - "Fathers, to not exasperate your children, instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." God commands fathers to be about the work of spiritual nurture with their children, yet they are to do it without exasperating the child with overly harsh discipline. Paul does not mean to exclude mothers, but he emphasizes the importance of a strong, gentle guiding hand from a man who is not harsh but has expectations. The father's influence and intentions are essential for the child to know the father's love as he supports the proper direction the child should take in behavior, faith, and life. Dads have the awesome opportunity to help the child know a father's love so they can come to know the love of our Father in heaven.

We say "Happy Birthday" to Ms. Lauren Childers today.

Work continues tonight as we begin to wrap up our Mission Adventure Week. We will begin at 5pm with a cookout at 6:30pm. There is still a lot of work to do so come this evening. Tomorrow we will do a field trip with our 3rd to 5th graders to Rock Island. Please call the office today and leave a message if your child is going. Transportation will be provided and we will leave the church at 10am. Please let us know where to pick up your child.

Our volleyball team plays tonight at 8:30pm at McMinnville Church of God (formerly Locust Street Church of God). Come out and support the team! We need another win tonight to even the score!

Sunday we will celebrate Father's Day with Donuts with Dad at 9:30am. Children and Dads will meet in the Youth building. Dads will then be able to return to their class.

We pray that you have a blessed day!

Good Morning, this is Wednesday, June 17.

Today's verse comes from Psalm 68, verses 4 and 5 - "Sing to God, sing praise to His name, extol Him who rides on the clouds-His name is Lord-and rejoice before Him. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows is the God in His holy dwelling." Jesus demonstrated the Father's heart for the marginalized in His ministry by making time to love, serve, heal, welcome, and bless widows, lepers, children, the afflicted, and the oppressed. Now it is up to us His disciples to continue the work of Jesus as His people, His bodily presence in our world today.

We will continue Mission Adventure Week tonight with some differences. We will have our regular fellowship dinner at 6pm and adult Bible Study at 7pm. Some of us will continue to work on different areas that have been started and need to be finished. There will also be jobs for those who cannot do the physical work and need to sit.

The 3rd to 5th graders will go on a trip to Rock Island on Friday. Please let us know if your pre-teen will be going. Transportation will be provided!

We pray that you have a blessed day!

Good Morning, this is Tuesday, June 16.

Our Scripture for today comes from Psalm 103, verse 13 - "As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him." Compassion! Not pity, not anger, not shame, not impatience, not intolerance, not rejection, none of this is what God, our Father, longs to share with us. We know this because today's verse declares it. We know it even more by the way Jesus treated children in His busy and overly-scrutinized ministry.

We continue tonight with Mission Adventure week. A lot of work was done at the youth building last night and there is more to do tonight. If you are a painter, your expertise would be appreciated! Russell will be cooking out tonight!

Recovery God's Way will meet tonight at6pm.

We will have our regular fellowship dinner tomorrow night at 6pm and those who are not working will have Bible study at 7pm.

We pray that you have a blessed day!

Good Morning, this is Monday, June 15.

Today's verse comes from Proverbs, chapter 23, verse 24 - "The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him." The greatest gift to give our fathers is to be like our Father in heaven, full of righteous character, gracious compassion, and faithful loving kindness. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can become people who are characterized by " love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.", fruit of the Spirit.

We say a special "Happy Birthday" to Ms. Viola Prater today and pray that she is feeling better soon. She has been a faithful member and fellow worker since the beginning of this church and we appreciate her!

We continue with Mission Adventure Week this evening beginning at 5pm. We worked in the Preschool last night and accomplished our goal of putting primer on the walls of a classroom and cleaning in some areas. There were 11 of us and we anticipate several more tonight as we work on the Youth building. Come out and lend a hand and get to know your church family!

Pray for safety as we work this week, for those who are traveling, and those who are sick and hurting today! I have a special friend who is undergoing a serious surgery today and prayer is appreciated!

May God's blessings be yours today!

Good Morning, this is Sunday, June 14.

Today's verse comes from Philippians, chapter 3, verse 20 - "Our citizenship is in heaven. and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ." No matter what any passport says, if we are a disciple of Jesus, there is no earthly country that can hold us, no borders that can fully claim us and no flag that flies above us that can spiritually contain us. We belong to Jesus and are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven.

We pray that you are preparing to be with us today and be a part of a Sunday School class or a small group at 9:30am. Our Celebration service begins at 10:30am and we will have Children's Church today as well. Our Mission Adventure week begins tonight from 5pm to 8pm. We look forward to this week each year and pray that it will be productive. Please see the sign up sheets in the foyer and pick an evening that you could work. We love to work together to accomplish a common goal!

We pray that you have a blessed Lord's Day!

Good Morning, this is Friday, June 12.

Today's Scripture comes from Psalm 19, verses 1 and 2 - "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge." The Creator is magnificient and glorious. All His creation-with its vast expanses of the universe, dazzling array of stars and planets, intricate patterns of beauty, its incredible variety of species and terrain, and wonderful motion and forces-proclaim His glory! Are we listening to the voice behind it all, or are we simply taking it for granted?

We say "Happy Birthday" today to a fine young man, Mr. Ty Childers. God has a future planned for him!

Please begin to think about what role you can play in Mission Adventure Week beginning on Sunday night. There is a place and a job for all of us!

We met a new friend at the volleyball game the other evening and she had a fall yesterday. Please remember to pray for Bridget. Remember to pray for your church today!

We pray that you have a blessed day!

Good Morning, this is Thursday, June 11.

Today's verse comes from Psalm 46, verse 10 - Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Reverent silences, as we pause amid the hectic rush of our busy lives, can daily remind us that this promise is as true today as it was centuries ago. So let's make this promise a spiritual principle we bring into our daily lives. Let's be still, and know that God is God, not us!

We say "Happy Birthday" to Mr. Dale Simmons, a great adult Sunday School teacher. If you are not attending Sunday School on Sundays, Dale would welcome you to his class in the sanctuary at 9:30am.

Our church is involved in Church League volleyball this season. They play at McMinnville Church of God (formerly Locust Street Church of God) gym. They have already played one set and will return to the volleyball court this evening at 6:30pm. Come out and support the team. It is a lot of fun!

Next week is Mission Adventure Week and we have lots of jobs planned! Please see the sign up sheets in the foyer on Sunday and sign up for a worthwhile project! Work begins at at 5pm, supper at 6:30pm and finish around 8pm.

We pray that you have a blessed day!

Good Morning, this is Wednesday, June 10.

Our Scripture for today comes from Colossians, chapter 3, verse 13 - "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." How can I forgive someone who has grievously sinned against me? Maybe the better question may be, How can I not forgive a brother or sister for whom Christ died when I know what Jesus did to forgive me? How can I withhold that grace from others? The Holy Spirit emphasized this principle several times in the New Testament scripture. We trust that while we may not have it in us to forgive on our own, with God all things are possible.

We say "Happy Birthday" today to our guitar-picking young man, Mr. Mitch Oliver!

We pray that you plan to be with us tonight for our fellowship dinner at 6pm. The men's group will also meet at 6pm and all men are invited. Bring a covered dish or finger foods and let's spend some time getting to know each other. Bible study will follow at 7pm with classes for all ages.

Our volleyball team played a great game last night even though they didn't win. They play again tomorrow night at 6:30 at the McMinnville Church of God gym on Locust Street. Come and support the team and wear a Covenant shirt! They will play a church called Safe Harbor Church of God.

You can find a prayer guide for Vacation Bible School on the table in the foyer. Prayer is the most important part of VBS!

We had a prayer request this morning for a lady who is the Mother of one of our workers at the Preschool. She had a serious fall. We also continue to have the unspoken requests.

Have a great day and we will see you tonight!

re lost and will not find their own way to salvation. Only Jesus is the way to GodGood Morning, this is Tuesday, June 9.

Today's verses come from Matthew, chapter 7, verses 13 -14 - "Jesus said, 'Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. but small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.'" Most people in the world want a Savior but not a Lord. The New Testament is clear, a Savior who is not Lord is no Savior and no friend. If the Old Testament showed us anything, it si that God's truth was written not for His fascination but for His people's preservation. Many people today, maybe even most, believe they are saved because they think their good deeds outweigh their bad ones. Jesus however, is very clear. Most are lost and will not find their own way to salvation. Only Jesus is the way to God.

Recovery God's Way meets tonight at 6pm.

Next week will be designated as a Week of Service! There are ample opportunities for all of us to serve in some way. Please take note of the sign up sheets in the foyer and choose a project.

Continue to remember the current prayer requests.

We pray that you are blessed today!

Good Morning, this is Monday, June 8.

Today's verse comes from Habakkuk, chapter 3, verse 19 - "The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights." What power we have in the Lord's abiding and empowering presence. Even in the worst of times, we are an enabled people. Unfortunately, we often forget the power available to us as disciples of Jesus.

Ms. Viola is back at home and feeling much better. Also the 2-year-old is at home but will have a long recovery period. Please continue to remember to pray for them and if you have prayer requests, please let us know.

Let's begin our week with an attitude of gratitude and thank God for His blessings!
